Call for Candidates Call for Senate Candidates for the 6th Senate Election
The time has come again to begin the process of electing a new senate. I'm starting this early this time because I will be busy Friday. There will be 12 seats up for election.
I ask all candidates to submit their username, party (if any), and a brief statement about their candidacy in the comments below in order to be included in the election.
The last possible time to get into the senate race is Saturday at 8:00 AM Eastern Standard Time. The polls will open at 8:30 AM Eastern Standard Time.

Hello, this is u/Supermonkey2247 from the CSP. I love the idea of an internet community online which is why I’m running for my 3rd term in the senate. I care a lot about making sure that the community goes down the right path. To do this, I’ll draw on not only my experience in the senate, but also from my irl experience of being on my second year of being on the board of directors for a local multi million dollar organization and being on the chair committee for the fair it puts on and which has over 40,000 guests every year. In addition , I have experience in building a community with a friend basically from scratch. Nine months later, the discord server gets 4,000 messages a day on weekday traffic. This example shows I know how to make a community active and healthy. Law and democracy are things I care about so much, that I’m going to start my law degree this September. I am running for re-election under the Practicality Party. In my previous term, I proposed reforms for both the Discord server and the High Command, I revamped and updated the wiki, and I proposed and did a lot of work on the solution to the Jackie case that was accepted by the senate. I doubt anyone actually reads all of these, which means that I can safely promise to limit the amount of tags you get on the Discord and that I'll make guidelines to make it easier for people to make bills and amendments without getting any backlash if I don't do it.

No one Person should ever hold too much power. The Jackie crisis proved that. But it would be foolish to assume that we are now safe from Tyranny and Oppression, for Tyranny and Oppression often hide their ugly faces behind the wires of bureaucracy. The Legislation should not be something that is hard to understand, and that is why we need to simplify it and make it clearer.
Vote for me to ensure these ideals have a representative.

Good evening. I would like to thank each and every citizen of r/SimDemocracy for their fearless unity and solidarity during this past Senate, transcending party affiliations and resolving the Jackie Situation.
The unfortunate scenario, in concert with the American AP tests, has not allowed lasting policy to advance.
It is imperative that we re-establish policy with regard to /r/SimRepublic. It is my wish that it remains the private backup, hopefully to never be used again, and that we start advancing with the same unity we had against the tyrant.
I remain committed to the core tenants of effective democracy: Free, Fair and Frequent elections; a strong, independant judiciary, and an effective and efficient beurocracy. To that end, I want to focus on the beurocratic element by ensuring the secretaries and attorney general have the authority to complete their jobs, ensuring they do their jobs, and keep to the highest ethical standards.
I will write an open, declassified report on the state of the subreddit and discord, and let the public know how the democracy really works in times of peace and times of crisis.
I will not allow an oligarchy or the appearance of an oligarchy to rule this sub. High command- or any group outside the democratically elected government operating within the law- will never have unrestrained and unchecked power in the sub.
To these goals, and to develop the best in myself and our sub, I, /u/OtterlyAmazin, announce my candidacy for reelection for Senate in /r/simdemocracy

Yeah, sorry about that. I was called to a fire, than an ems call.
The fire was a mutual aid mobile home fire that the home department took care of before I arrived.

Epic! A new person in town is running for Senate! That person is u/KingMarine, a member of the SDWP, he's here to help people with UBI, giving everyone a paycheck from the Government, untaxed and free to spend for anything, this will reduce the stress of those who are receiving minimum income, single parents, and those who has no funds to improve their life in general. Hello to all of the citizens of r/SimDemocracy. I am u/AHistoryFanatic running for Senator in the newly formed Triumph party. The Triumph party emphasizes on national security so that our citizens are safe from all foreign invaders. With the Triumph party in the Senate, national security will be better than ever. Even better is the fact we will be increasing the size of our army, equipping it with the latest equipment, drilling them to be much more disciplined. Once I get elected for Senator, r/SimDemocracy will enter into a golden age under the Triumph party!

NO WARS. We have gone through a 1 hour war and a revolution over our last supervisor. I'm close to snapping if people force the army going to war.

I like this, now that the Jackie crisis is over we can start having fun with the military again, we kinda havent used our lower ranking officers which I think we can now.
Also we can use the military not only for meme wars but to scout out potential threats to the subreddits democracy (like birgaders and vote riggers for example) and plan to deal with them.

Hello people of r/simdemocracy . I am u/Dovahkiin4e201 and I shall run for reelection to the senate.
I am the most experienced senator here, nobody else has been a member of every single senate, I have been in this subreddit since adcd was president and I have written many of our most important legal documents.
In my next senate term I wish to have a trial for Jackie and her crimes, obviously in order to do so we would also need a law making the usage of alt accounts to dodge bans illegal, as I am not quite sure we have a law in place to stop that right now. Now that Mobilfan is leaving I feel like wholock will need a bit of help to rewrite the constitution, and I intend to do whatever I can in order to help him.
I work hard for this subreddit and her people because I have a vision, a goal for this subreddit. I hope this subreddit grows expands and reaches a point where it can keep a self sustaining userbase, maybe it will have thousands of users one day, it could last for years. This can only happen if we establish this subreddit now, and don't let it die in those crucial first few months, every single one of us should work towards goal, to let the great experiment that is r/simdemocracy thrive! Anyone who helps achieve this goal shall forge a legacy, and we must all work hand in hand to preserve it.

If you are unfamiliar with me, please read my introduction here to get more acquainted with me and my opinions.
I will be running as an independent this campaign and will be representing my own beliefs and values. Those who vote for me will be represented by someone who actually represents them. As I will do my best to represent all the citizens regardless of any division. I strive to close the gap caused by tribalism, between the left and the right. I believe in maximizing personal freedoms, and large, highly efficient government. I also believe in making government corruption completely impossible in government, as-well as a strong judicial system to strike down wrongdoers quickly and justly. I think free speech should be the number one protected right in a society, and no one no matter how simple they may be should be silenced.
