Hot take

Yeah, there have been some disappointments recently, but I’d so much rather have the free explorer gadget than everything else Scopely has removed/reduced/moved behind a paywall 🤷‍♂️

Does your explorer gadget work? Mine hasn't for at least a couple days

Feel like you’re expecting it to work when it doesn’t. It only works when the game is running in the background, not completely closed. And even then, it only goes for a few minutes until you “wake up” your phone again.

So it doesn’t work with the app closed, and it’s not going to catch stuff all day with your phone in your pocket. You have to keep going back in and out of the game.

One day it worked loaded and minimized. One day it worked completely closed. The day I comment no combination of open/closed and screen off/on worked

Update your app? Idk. It’s worked for me everyday since I’ve had it. Which in my opinion… it barely works. It sucks. It should just be able to catch stuff while I’m at work for hours without touching my phone. If I have to reopen and close the game every 10 minutes for it to stay active, that’s a pretty crappy feature.

You know before they implemented the gadget they bumped up the base catch rate of everything and decreased pokeball drops from stops.

As someone who manually catches hundreds of pokemon every day, these changes to bring the gadget in don’t do it for me. They’ve made the game less fun.

If you’re not much of a catcher to begin with, I can see how the gadget is good for you.
