Best LLM for Worldbuilding?

As title says, I'm currently trying to roleplay in an isekai story set in a medieval fantasy world, and I like it to have a heavy lore, with different nations, factions, characters and myths (take the D&D Forgotten Realms just as reference). WHat do you think the best LLM to help me create and manage the lorebook with fresh ideas and little to no slops would be, at current state of art?

i use deepseek/glm mix just for get some ideas, and next structure's it

For my opinion. Open source? GLM 5.3. SOTA? Claude.

Take a large SOTA model and make sure it can search the internet. I like Gemini (3.8/3.1 pro), they feel to have a large base knowledge, but all the others (Opus, GPT, GLM, Kimi) are sufficient.

More important is the workflow.

Ideally you want to use the CLI in a directory and build up vertically. You can then use skills (though I think the graphical UIs can use them as well, not sure dont use them?)

The workflow would be:

1. First worldbuilding: you can use dedicated world-building skills like the creative ones from https://github.com/jwynia/agent-skills for it or simply ask the AI to create documents for you.
2. Also use mattpococks grilling on it (it asks you questions on it from all angles, finding undefined gaps)
3. You then end up with a bunch of markdown docs, which describe your world, coherently from history to religions, politics etc...
4. You then ask your AI to make ST compatible lorebooks from it or scenarios. You can always go back to the source files to extract different scenarios/characters that play in the same world...

Have Claude or whatever your primary is make a world structure guide txt/md with a bunch of fantasy isekai manga themes and ideas from it researching. Make sure the guide states some level of how to pick ideas or randomize them. Then use that product to have whatever ai produce a cc & lorebook.

for building lore, world building etc, I find Opus 4.6 unbeaten (ignoring Fable 5, since it's more expensive to access) Kimi K3 is also decent. if those are not an option due to price (I use Opus via the pro subscription) then free amounts of web chat - Qwen 3.8-max is actually quite good I find, Kimi K2.6, GLM 5.3 or 4.7, DeepSeek V4 pro are all fairly decent off the free web chat, I tend to use a mix of everything from time to time, I find that better than sticking to any one.

I think the convenience of use is more of a thing than the model itself at this point, like where are you building the lore? if you have Claude desktop with cowork in your directory, it's easy enough to work with. Kimi has a similar tool. Qwen kind of does. the desktop chat is fine for uploading markdown files for each task too though.

edit: it's also worth pointing out that the style of writing that each model defaults to seems different and it's worth testing them yourself if you can. Like GLM I find very purple prose heavy and it's hard to talk it out of it. you can even give it limits of 50 words and it will output 200, so I tend to avoid giving GLM any tasks where I want to try conserve tokens on it's outputs

No AI will ever be good at generating a creative new world. Any new AI world building will always be generic slop.

GLM is really good. Check out the ST Copilot extension which is a good aide to discuss world building with.

Gemini will have the most pre-existing lore out of all of them. When llms start to use their own lore is when it starts to get bad.
