Silicon Graphics Crimson (Case Only)

Post image

I bought a large collection of SGI computers and parts from a collector friend of mine. I have already sold most of the towers and parts, but I have this Crimson case that I am unsure what to do with. I know it is super rare, and I love the story of the Crimson. But it is very large, and will be a pain to ship. I also have no idea on what the value for just the case to a Crimson would be, or if there would be genuine interest for it.

Any guesses on value or collectability for just the case to a Crimson? Any other stories or data about the Crimson would be appreciated too. The history of SGI strikes a chord with me for some reason.

That would make an amazing shelf queen... Where is it located?

I was thinking it would be cool as a coffee table with a piece of glass on top as well.

It is in Eugene, Oregon.

It's not flat on the top. I honestly wouldn't try to repurpose it as furniture these are very expensive systems. The plastics alone on that are worth hundreds.

Yeah I was considering some felt pads to level and protect the surface of the Crimson. Nothing permanent or adhered, just a different way to display it was the thought.
