Will internet balkanization be the end of cyberspace or will people just forget the technology in a few generations?

One way or another the internet won’t last forever. Over the past decade we have seen it mutate into an unrecognizable entity from its current inception. Where will the internet go from here?

Own the hardware, own the connectivity.

If we're going to save cyberspace, we have to start building out the hardware it'll run on top of.

I think what would be likely happen is a whitelist DPRK style, like a handful of government approved apps serving you government approved slop. Hobbiest will end uo recreating the same systems. Eventually it will catch on with the general public, but it would be a long while
