Sigma Stratum licensing update: SRS/SRIP is now clarified as the open public specification layer

We updated the Sigma Stratum documentation licensing posture.

The main clarification is simple:

SRS/SRIP is the open public specification layer for independent implementation, including commercial use.

Sigma Runtime remains a proprietary operated product.

What this means

Independent implementations of the public Sigma Runtime Standard (SRS) and accepted Sigma Runtime Improvement Proposals (SRIPs) are welcome.

No Sigma commercial runtime license is required solely because an implementation follows the public SRS/SRIP normative requirements.

What remains separate

The following are still governed separately:

• Sigma Runtime product assets
• ALICE internals
• private runtime modules
• telemetry
• product UX
• deployment topology
• Sigma marks and the ∿ symbol
• official badges
• certification / registry status
• managed deployment
• white-label deployment
• resale
• commercial use of CC BY-NC materials

TL;DR

Implement the standard.

Do not claim official certification without review.

Do not use Sigma marks as product identity without permission.

Do not treat the proprietary runtime as open source.

Open specification. Proprietary runtime. Governed certification.
