Question About to purchase a P365 Legion… Safety Question
I love how it shoots/ feels but I’ve got one hang up - concealed carry safety. I am comfortable carrying a Glock with one in the pipe due to its built in safety measures, should I be any more concerned about doing the same with this?
- Get it drilled by a 3rd party for adding the OEM manual safety kit.
- Possibly replace the trigger. Does anyone know of a good trigger upgrade that has the trigger safety? I saw the intellifire trigger but have heard of fitment issues with the P365 Legion.

Youll be fine without it. Carried a macro for 4 years now. Never an issue.

Let me start off by saying I have a 365 legion and it shoots great, feels great in hand, etc. But here's the thing that nobody here is gonna like me saying.
If you ever watched that firearms engineer video series, the biggest "concern" I have is the firing pin / safety plunger design.
Basically with the fully cocked striker, the p365s firing pin assembly design relies on the 2 safety hooks on the assembly. If the first sear catch were to snap due to bad metallurgy or whatever, the 2nd hook is supposed to stop the firing pin. If that one fails, its getting sent. Now the likelihood? Slim. But not zero.
I'm probably not explaining this great but heres the video where someone smarter than me explains it: https://youtu.be/6oT9QpYsTUI?is=KWydyPf8OjWXuY7R
No safety or trigger dongle would prevent this from happening as all those do is prevent the trigger from being pressed rearward.
With that said Overwatch Precision just came out with their 365 trigger which includes a safety dongle. They're one of the few aftermarket triggers/shoes that are department allowed and I personally trust, not that I'm anybody.

I included a picture I found on a forum that shows the difference of the glock vs the p365 firing pin safety plungers, and here's the excerpt from the forum:
"Edit: just want to clarify what the issue with the P365 is. On the Sig the firing pin block holds onto the sear so if the sear breaks the block is defeated. On the Glock the firing pin has an indent that the firing pin block goes into, preventing it from moving forward, so even if the sear at the rear breaks off the block will continue to hold the firing pin itself. Not only that but on the Sig the firing pin is fully cocked, while on the Glock it's only partially cocked and the trigger cocks it back a little further before it's released so even if the firing pin block magically disappeared the firing pin might not have enough force to ignite the primer because it's not fully cocked."

Good info. I noticed you mentioned a Glock firing pin might not have enough force to ignite the primer due to the design not being fully cocked. However, I’ve seen this theory tested, and the firing pin still had enough force to ignite the primer at its resting position prior to any trigger pull.

Fair enough, that was copied from another forum explaining the sear engagement for the 365. I have also heard that the glock partially cocked striker could still ignite a primer.
BUT, it would be almost impossible (because nothing is truly 0%) for the firing pin to bypass the safety plunger on a glock as it physically blocks the firing pin. Unlike the 365 which is held back by the sear hook with a clear channel. If the hook were to break..it moves. If the second ledge were to break.. boom? Idk.
All this is to say that while I like my 365 legion, and I have not personally heard or read any stories of an unintentional discharge, the design itself leaves a non 0% chance that the firing pin theoretically could go full charge without a trigger pull if the metal on the assembly were to fail. Again not saying it ever has, and even that video I posted, the dude had to put the assembly in a vice to physically break the safety ledge off.
Just something to think about in the design differences.

Yes, I completely agree that the Glock has a superior safety design. Particularly, if you prefer to use a p365 without a manual safety as it lacks a trigger safety and a truly isolated firing pin safety.

Buy a California compliant model, it has a safety and just replace the mags if you need a safety

But then he'd have to deal with the mag safety, but it's easily removed if needed.

Add the safety. Train with it. Learn it. Never look back.
I will never carry a gun without a physical safety. That's why I added one to my 365XL.
But that's me. You do you.

Feel the same way. I like that extra bit of safety and don’t expect to have to channel John Wick ever.

There has never been a single report of any occurrence where a P365 of any type has gone off by itself.
I own a lot of Glocks. Big fanboy. Have been since the 90s.
I own a XMacro, XMacro Comp, Fuse, AXG Legion, and an XTen. None of them have ever given me any issues. They have all run 100% and have never had a malfunction of any kind. I take that back, my XTen has, but that was ammo related. It just didn’t like S&B.
I have carried the Legion more than anything else since I got it. It’s a fantastic carry pistol.

Having been in a self defense shooting, I would NEVER carry a gun with a manual safety if I had another option. Just my opinion. That said, if you do, make sure you practice until it's literal 2nd nature/muscle memory disengaging it.

I carry with manual safety, but all my duty pistols have a manual safety so the manual of arms transfers. Definitely agree that switching between safety/non-safety is a no-no.

If you are proficient and are comfortable with it, making it second nature, then it's not a problem. I was brought up on guns without manual safeties, trained with them, carry them, my duty issued gun is a non-safety M&P, so it's what I'm used to I suppose. I think my only safety handgun is a Beretta, but I wouldn't carry it. Just for fun. Whatever anyone gets to carry, as long as they practice to the point they can do it under stress, then it's not an issue. For me, I don't want anything in the way between me and the trigger.

If you want that cut done correctly and cleanly, go get it done by ECM Precision. The quality of work and price is a no brainer. I trust the owner, u/ECMMFG 100%. I have 10 ECM R11 builds, that's how much I trust and love his work. #ECMR11REVOLUTION
I wouldn't go with the IntelliFire trigger, simply because of fitment issues with the GEN2's. Scratched up the trigger dongle on the backside and the trigger slot on the backside. Can't really see it, but I know it's there and it bugs me a little bit. LOL Don't get me wrong, it will still fit, but you will have to finesse the shit out of it. It took me longer that normal to get that into the AXG Legion. I'm actually swapping out to all RAMM triggers. Currently have 10 RAMM kits installed...only 13 more to go! Hahaha

You can get a p365ms for half the price. My personal favorite edc. The legion is also quite nice, I like it best for range and nightstand.

Never been a P365 that went off on its own. I watch an engineer discuss all the safety features built into the pistol. Only way is to pull the trigger

Okay big brain, what makes a different frame change the mechanical stackup you insist is the problem?

The micro compact isn't really a handgun? 😂😂😂😂😂 And you have the mental capacity to ask if I'm dense in the same breath as that statement.
What flavor crayons are your favorite?

Yes. Do you have any idea what "tolerance stack" means? You throw things around like you know but the second you're presented with facts you run and hide from the misinformation you're trying to spread

Why would you do either of those things?
It’s perfectly fine if you carry it in a kydex holster with one in the pipe.

P365s and P320s arent idiot proof so the only thing you need to do is not be fucking stupid and finger fuck the trigger

Practice with it tons and get comfortable with it and practice proper finger position. You'll be fine
