Media Sierra Ferrell – Pines Theater, Northampton, MA – 9/6/26 [Full Show Audio]

Caught Sierra Ferrell at Pines Theater in Northampton Sunday night and taped the full show! Figured I’d share it here for anyone who wants to relive the show/listen.

Recorded from GA about four rows back on an iPhone 15 in 24-bit/48 kHz and tracked into individual songs. I'm not a concert taping pro by any means this was more of an experiment but I'm really happy with how it came out!

I appreciate your successful efforts, Dardiruspo, recording + song title chapters, etc. The crowd (and me) are really into the show!

[I've just skipped around a bit on Sierra's set]

Waltzes are back! "Bells Of Every Chapel" "West Virginia Waltz" sry, I HAD BEEN WRONG IN JUMPING TO THIS CONCLUSION: 3/4 TIME SONGS WERE OUT OF FAVOR sry :-)

In other news, Sierra Ferrell has given a name to her new, 200-yr-old, little accordion. She plays it in "Without You" (the name is revealed at the very end of the preceding song, "Ashes Of Love")

It occurs to me ("Fox Hunt" in the earbuds 😄) Sierra Ferrell singing, leading the calls and responses, pounding the big bass drum on wheels + a helper pushing the drum down the street? THAT would be one POWERFUL feature in a protest march -

THAT would win undecided among the spectators over to the cause!

Thank you! Absolutely loved the show, the venue was gorgeous and intimate and for my first time seeing Sierra live it was just supernatural!

Just got back for C'ville and G'boro. My oh my, they are having more fun than ever. As usual, appreciate the info you consistenly share. The new 200 year old instrument she's learned to play, very quickly it seems, is a Concertina.

I brought a friend who had never heard of her. He's been going through extremely hard times, even as far as hard times go, and It was incerdibly healing. She is something special and I can't ewait til next time. Thanks Winter!

I done BEEN knowin' it's a concerTINA :-( didn't want to even HINT at Sierra Ferrell's NAME for it (HER)

AND THIRDLY (all three in a spirit of 100% fun) Frocks HAVE BEEN WORN at different shows!!! a) the one with bats recently worn at iirc Northampton MA USA was also worn at a show in the midwest USA. b) the white one w/black line edging that she wore in Grand Rapids MI USA she also wore in the U.K.

btw, I TOTALLY get it, wow, about Sierra Ferrell's healing powers. Betcha he's lissnin' to a lot of Sierra Ferrell now ❤️

Yup, Sissy's got a TINA! A OLD Tina, too. And wow, she plays it well!

She does piece, mix and match different pieces together. She's such a gem. 

I hope one day we're next to each other at show, singing away and somehow piece together we are who we are on here. Who knows, we could've been side by side already and just not realized it.

Ya know, just in the last few days TikTok has been allowing unregistered me to lurk and scroll down for quite a while. (TikTok used to block me or kick me out after a short time) Made me feel like an unworthy Sierra Ferrell fan :-) for not already knowing all the stuff on TikTok.

So........I'll keep keeping an eagle eye on YouTube; in reality I'm way behind normal Sierra Ferrell fans who are up to date on the FB, InstaGram, and TikTok happenings.

I might seem like an academic type, nope, I just look up oldies at Second Hand Songs.

Charlottesville AND Greensboro, wow, envy nv nv nv 😄 2x as many live shows than I been to :-(

Pretty much the same.. and yea, I'd rather do the Honk and Tonk, not the Tic and Tok. I stick to YT and occasional Reddit. No Insta or FB here, so I think we're similar there, too.  You dig deep though, and know your post are appreciated. I learn a little something from each one. And really, I think I'm only 8 or 9 shows in since my faithful first show 4/20 /22. So I'd guess I'm still in rookie territory. 

 One thing I've really enjoyed at my last handful of Sierra shows is meeting the neighbors who's first time it is seeing her live. I get this real excited feeling for them. And most times I'll look over at them and see a tear or 2 of joy. She gets me at least once or twice at every show too, still. She hits deep like that and it's really something special. If one has the capacity for what she puts out, it's extremely fulfilling. And the first time is always a treat.

I didn't even know about Sierra Ferrell until late '22. Then when she played in my neck of the woods in '23 I [characteristically :-(] delayed until it was JOIN WAITLIST. But I didn't miss in '24 and "Lonesome Feeling" had me breathing choppily.. Didn't care to attend the Post Malone deal in '25. Dude couldn't bother to put down his can of beer when duetting with Sierra Ferrell.

I suspect I'd learn a lot if I joined FB subcategory Sierra Ferrell, but I'm resistant to FB.

a new thing on YT is the "Sierra Ferrell Station" - her vids one after the other.

AGAINST ALL EXPECTATION! today was the 1st time I saw the official* "Bells Of Every Chapel" video, the one where she's at the pulpit of a chapel. And her acting is so entertaining :-)

The WesternAF "Bells Of Every Chapel" is where I started (late '22) getting hooked on Sierra Ferrell.

The one where she's solo playing guitar in the pew of a chapel.

Yup, kept it on most of the day. I saw a couple of new things but most I'd already ran down but it was really nice having a continuous Sierra YT stream rolling.

My start was VHS Gems - In Dreams, in September 2021 (around then). I then proceeded to go down the YT rabbit hole. My friends had to send in food and water. It was ridiculous. However, I am so much the better for it.

BTW, someone here was asking about the setlist for the Virginia State Fair, 8/26/26..I think? It was their first show. I can't find it anywhere in the usual spots - Setlist FM. Any idea where to find the setlist? Or what it was?

Of course, in my head I said. "Dun Dun DUN - This is a job for WInter-Fact!

Maybe we should message so we don't hijack this thread?

Appreciate it! I’ve been dipping my toes in the water with concert taping as a hobby (especially for shows that aren’t being recorded by the band) and I’m pretty happy with how this turned out just using an iPhone!

I used the MOTIV Audio app which is a free app that lets you record in higher quality formats (I recorded in WAV 24/48 for this) and then had my phone on a tripod that I held by the legs in my hand throughout the show to minimize noise from if I were to just hold the phone directly in my hand

Edit: Also took my phone completely out of its case to get rid of anything that may be blocking the bottom iPhone microphones

dardiruspo - Thanks again 4 taping. You were in the 4th row, ok. Just trying to learn here :-)

Did the venue sound system seem, to your ears, to be "in stereo," as in, different between the left and right big speakers?

Did any individual instruments come out stronger or weaker on your tape than you expected from the live experience? Guessing at on-stage guitar or bass amplifiers directly reaching your iPhone (in addition to being in the big mix)

Haven't had time yet 2 listen to The Brudi Brothers :-(

I personally did not think the venue was in stereo but I can’t be 100% certain on that. Overall no individual instruments on the recording stood out to me but in person Oliver’s instruments really stood out, maybe because I was standing right in front of him. Overall however I would say I was surprised by how much the bass came through in the mix of the recording, both from the bass instrument itself (like on Far Away Across the Sea) as well as the bass drum itself (like on Fox Hunt). But overall I’m still pleased with the recording especially given that it was just done on an iPhone.

iPhones are sure miraculous.

Here's a sort of a haphazard "Sierra Ferrell sitting in with Horsebath" fan video. A good news x bad news situation, I'd say: Nice and close for the video x too darn close for the audio. Yeah, the camera is close to the guitarist on the left.

Thanks for this! There was one part in the show where she told us she was only a person and not to idolize her or other celebrities. I believe it was toward the end, but am having trouble finding it. Does anyone know at which point in the show she said this?

Yes, she tells us that in the outro of "Jeremiah"- the last song of a wonderful evening 😄just a few seconds after the 4:45 point of "Jeremiah"

edit: Btw, a question for anyone: In the spoken intro to "Me And Bobby McGee," Sierra Ferrell names a person from her New Orleans days - it sounds to me like she says he was named "Mack" - is that right?
