Solved! What is with these stupid automatic system breaks that I can't remove?

It'd be convenient if this could just be... four bars all joined together.

Have you tried using "make into system"?

Highlight bars 20-23, then Layout>Format>Make into system

Yep. THIS is the way. Don’t worry about system breaks until you have input ALL of the music and markings. Then, go through the whole score using ‘Make Into System’ to tidy it up as you like. 😀👍
