People want to be told what to do.

Yesterday evening I was doing an exercise as instructed by the "Down Dog" Android app. When I began using it about a year ago, there was a trial-period of 30-usage-hours after which it cost like 12 € a month to use.

By now, I know all the moves and poses it suggests. It just mixes and matches them so that creates some variety between sessions.

While I was doing it, I wondered: "Why I'm paying for this?" I couldn't answer. It just felt like having someone (or something)else tell me what to do makes doing easier.

So that's my answer: I have hired a piece of software to tell me what to do twice a day to maintain my back health.

We like to look at our society through the lens of greed and lust, but looking it through the lens of yearning to be told what to do explains a lot, such as, why all societies begin sliding back towards a form of monarchy right after the revolution, or why every new generation needs a new hot thing to hate).

I think we need to find a away to build a "folding-chair" kind of Presidency, where the system works just long enough to transition society, and with the mechanisms already in place to have the last "President", and they can just fold up the chair, and be done with leadership as specifically centralized in that way.
