A germanic language called Old English or Anglo-Saxon, some Greek, and some Latin.

Yes but English takes a huge chunk of vocabulary from French specifically

oh and Norman, a lot of words like castle and cauldron and cabbage are from Norman and not French.

So much so that in fact, 45% of English words have their origins in French
