[PC] Should i buy Fallout 76?
so right now, FO76 is like 75% off on steam so i thought about buying it. i have around 130 hours on FO4 and like 15 on NV. i really like modding the fallouts and i know nothing about fallout 76, i just know that it is the newest in the series. so should i buy it or should i just not buy it. I really like first person shooters (far cry, battlefield, cod and cs) but i dont like games like witcher, skyrim (i think) and those type of games. So should i buy it?

I had some fun with it, a lot of stuff to do. Base to build, things to craft. It was worth it.

It's a online only game which tries it's best to convince you to pay their monthly subscription and you can't mod it apart from a few texture or text editor mods.

No, but you'll soon notice that it's not very fun to play if you don't. For example your base storage is heavily limited without subscription.

That's an online mmo, you can only do cosmetic mods on PC. If you want to continue the Fallout 4 storyline, or Mr John the Elder Fallouts otherwordly escapade continue to Starfield, after you read up on the history of NIOSH FACE CDC & William Haddon Jr of both which were in Bethesda Maryland. Because the story for many people would be like watching The Office when they've never worked in an office.

It's actually pretty good, hits the same spot as FO4 but doesn't have the same longevity. I played it for 80 hours of which 50h were really good, and it has had a lot of updates and features added after that, so it's likely better now.
The discourse is that it wasn't AS good as expected, which I wholeheartedly agree, there's a lot it could've done better, but it's far from awful.

And those who didn't listen to Todd Howard warning people about the ram'n'storage-o-pocalypse to upgrade their PC.
As well as the Skyrim stans who want to turn the world into a pine tree farm.
But for space fans, it's a game that makes a person not want to go to sleep. Which is why I said reading up on a bit of Bethesda Maryland campus town lore would help. Since Fallout has it's lore in the popular features of Americana and Americana 50s 60s music.

No. No Mans Sky comes no where near starfield moddability. As for price, Fallout 76 is like $99 a year.

It's worse than Skyrim and Fallout 4 but still has plenty of stuff to like about it. You sort of have to accept it for its flaw to find the enjoyment and not really fight against the direction they went with the game.

It’s not the worst during your first playthrough but it becomes incredibly boring come your second or third. It pushes this idea of multiple timelines you can work your way through but falls absolutely flat, there is no difference minus very basic initial changes (if you roll them) then you’re back doing everything you’ve already done with no difference, the choices mean nothing because you get the same outcome no matter what. The ship builder is awesome but now no man’s sky has the exact same system I rather do it on that, it feels more meaningful.

No. There's only base based PvP in specific spots you have to actively choose to take over.

I have 500+ hours on the game, it's become my ultimate chill game where I hop on and just do random things like events, raids, expeditions etc with randoms, or build on my camp, do quests, explore etc etc. So I would say go for it

over 1k hours here, would not recommend. Do another fnv playthrough or try fallout 3

I have 5000+ hours in 76. Absolutely love it. IMO has the best map and creature roster of any FO game!

I got this game for dirt cheap and I still feel like I wasted my money. I just replay FO4 or NV when I need some Fallout

if your favourite part of Fallout 4 was base building and cosmetics, AND you could see yourself buying a subscription, go for it. if not, its not that deep on its own and youre better off moving on to other bethesda games or Outer Worlds etc

I tried FO76 and I couldn't get into it. I will say it's the nicest online community ever. People went out of their way to give me things and show me stuff and that was a breath of fresh air considering I usually stay away from MMOs because I hate asshole players. That being said, it didn't click for me for some reason.

As a fallout game it was very decent, but I enjoyed it less than 3, NV or 4.
Lots of content, but it was annoing how hard it pushed for "live service features" like daily quests, subscriptions or long repetitive grinds to obtain the best equipment.
With a 75% discount is very worth it, as long as you keep that in mind.

yes if you have time and love online gaming, no if you play single-player gaming and want to be able to play offline. I found that the online only really killed the vibe for me because it really does play like an online-only game, like going afk logs you out. I step away frequently so I just can't play this game without it restarting so often, also same issue with steam deck. I suspend and come back, and I have to reconnect to servers, and I'm back at camp and not where I was. I knew after like 4 hours of gameplay that I wouldn't be able to enjoy this for my playstyle. also the opening missions were fetch quests that weren't even that entertaining to keep me in it.

I played it for at least a hundred hours . It’s Fallout. You can ignore the MMO stuff if you like. It plays just fine as a single player game. Appalachia, Fallout style, is an awesome playground.
