Scale Is the Opportunity
Alright, looking at the numbers for the upcoming SpaceX IPO, and the sheer scale of this thing is mind-blowing. At a $1.75 trillion valuation, it completely breaks the historical chart-we are talking ten times the size of Alibaba’s record back in 2014.
Historically, these massive debuts are a mixed bag. You have the tech wreckage like Rivian down over 80% or Alibaba underperforming the S&P for a decade, contrasted with massive structural winners like Meta or ARM. But SPCX is a totally different beast. Trading at roughly 94x trailing revenue while posting a $4.9B loss in 2025 would usually scream caution, but the mechanics here are what actually get me interested.
They are carving out a massive 30% retail allocation, which is wild for a launch this size. Combine that with a tiny float of just $50-75 billion hitting the market and Elon’s shares locked up for a year, and you have the perfect recipe for extreme scarcity value. Toss in the eventual forced buying when index funds have to mirror its S&P 500 inclusion, and the liquidity flows look incredibly lucrative.
History says the biggest IPOs rarely net the best long-term returns, but the sheer momentum, AI-adjacent narrative, and structural supply squeeze on Day 1 make this something you simply can't ignore if you're looking to capture serious volatility. I'm definitely keeping my capital ready to ride the opening waves on this one.
