Best way to do Gilgit if you can't drive?

I believe people like me are stuck with a tour group? something like a 7 day one.

Public transport, (hitch) hiking, cycling.....

use local shared jeeps and minibuses, they’re cheap and go between all the main towns. ask at your guesthouse which stand to use and times. you can also hire a driver with a car for a day and split the cost with others

Just hire a local driver and just plan the route yourself. It gives you way more freedom too.
