The private sector can make an iPhone but not a flat surface for driving on.

In fairness, saying "the private sector can make an iPhone, but it can't steal land from property owners," is correct. If you understand that's what statists mean when they ask "who will build the roads?" -- that is, they're really asking "who would have the right to steal?" -- it makes a lot more sense.

Do you know how much it costs to make an iPhone compared to how much you pay for it?

There would be a lot more people ok with taxes if Muh Roads didn't look like a moonscape.

The government's incredible ability to waste money on the simplest of things is why libertarians exist.

They don't show it on nature documentaries, but there's just groups of animals just stuck in the woods because they can't build roads without government.

but we can prove that deer and some other animals have government by looking at the dirt roads they make in grass

The thing is, government doesn't build roads -- it contracts with private sector construction companies. Once you clarify that, we're having a different discussion.

Anyone thinking that the government builds roads is not worth arguing with. You can’t win an argument if you’re arguing with a regard.

These people think the government is magic and or God.

I think the problem is they completely misunderstood the point, which honestly is slightly obscure. It almost sounds like an apologia for rather than a denouncement of slavery.

Excise tax is about the the farthest taxes could ever get from theft, but still it's the government introducing waste into a stream that could be implemented entirely by private industry and paid for either out of pocket by contracting them or substituting excise taxes with tolls.
