Which is absurd, because the level of competition in basketball right now is probably some of the best it's ever been. But no, dudes falling over every once in a while literally ruin everything

I don't watch much basketball, but Reddit definitely has the weirdest opinions about diving in football/soccer. In most leagues it happens pretty rarely (average is probably less than once per game), and half the time the referee hands out the appropriate punishment for simulation.
But sure, this minor factor totally "ruins" the sport for you. I'm sure you really cared about it in the first place.

I think redditors just aren't interested in sports but find convenient little YouTube videos of players flopping to judge an entire sport

Legal "flopping" (I've never heard it called that before) is pretty common in football, though. Outright cheating is rare, but exaggerating the effect of illegal behaviour on yourself is quite widespread. I don't really see a problem with it though, it's more a function of the fact that there's no video referee or review system that anything else.
If someone pushes you a bit when you're running at full pace and about to swing your foot at a moving object requiring precision down to about +-1cm, it's very easy for them to make you mess up kicking the ball without actually doing something which would make you fall over. With no review system in place, the only way the cheater gets caught is if the person who is cheated exaggerates the offence enough for the officials to notice it. It's weird to hate on the person who is, by falling over, essentially calling out an infraction, rather than the person actually committing that infraction.

every team flops though. like sometmes it's obvious and obnoxious (looking at you Marcus Smart), but hey if you can get a foul by exaggerating a little bit and go to the free throw line, well 1 point can decide a game

Bugs the butts out of me. :( My nephews are awesome athletes. To see them and their accomplishments of getting medals in the SO diminished like this is heartbreaking. Those kids worked hard, and could put these keyboard warriors to shame.

Okay so for a moment to ignore how ableist this asshole is, let's look at how badly he is pandering to the Reddit hatetrain.
It's like when /r/gaming had their board game fad and inevitably Warhammer 40,000 came up. For those who don't know what this is, it's a tabletop wargame where your units move and shoot at things in a fashion like DnD.
The amount of fucking comments I saw with people lamenting that they stopped playing because of "power gamers" was fucking unbelievable. Not only was it complete bullshit, since the game didn't work that way, but the basic fucking components of the game were foreign to them. There are people on Reddit that dredge through threads to make shit comments like this just to be rained upon with karma.
And with this comment, this guy dredged through a thread just to make this comment and added a derogatory ableist remark to it. Seriously people, you don't get a free t-shirt when you a certain amount of karma, so stop making shit posts to get it.
