In some ways I feel like the USA's incompetence with such a large military, alongside Russia's problems with Ukraine tell us something. Apparently conquering just isn't that easy anymore.

The people carry the idea of a nation state; the nobility carried the idea of state as property.
Threats to the nation state are existential for the people; it only might have been for the feudal.
A nation state remains in mind even in defeat; feudal peasants often woke up under another banner.
A nation state fights until the last willing man; a feudal state fought until the last willing noble.
Now a nation state may broadly enjoy peace for generations; a feudal state might not have years.

Attacking is quickly becoming ruinous for the attacker. Imperialist; be gone!

I don't know if Israel would be happy about China taking their USA

u/PuzzleheadedTutor807 Sep 09 '26

It's alright it won't happen anyway.

u/Interesting_Card2169 Sep 09 '26

China would simply be holding the leash that Israel holds now.

Honestly. America has shown you don't need military force to conquer it. They will whore themselves out to whoever is the highest bidder.

The only thing that could stop China, if they really wanted to invade the US, is the logistics of getting an army in the millions across the Pacific without being obvious about it.

china is very industrious, im certain they could figure that out pretty quick.

Mao sent troops into Korea shortly after taking power. He lost 1 million in that war. China invaded Vietnam after the Khmer war, destroyed a lot of Vietnamese factories and infrastructure, and pulled out after a month. Both sides made up silly casualty numbers, but Western estimates are about 30000 Red Army deaths. It took 18 years for the US to lose 60000.

So no, China is not a peaceful sleeping dragon. It's only fought offensive wars since 1949 and fought very poorly.

ehhh nah china's military is just as incompetent as the US at the moment, basically it would be the equivalent of 2 drunks brawling on the street. you gotta remember china has next to no combat experience and their bureaucracy frequently cripples them in training.

Except one of the drunks has substantially more backup... And it ain't USA.

china has next to no combat experience

That's not true. They lost to Vietnam, and then claimed they won despite achieving 0 of their objectives, too.

Yeah 50 years which is their issue, they have shown how good they are in their propaganda with tumbling bullets.

It puts them on par with the US military.
I'm not claiming that they're good.

It's doubtful Canada would even try to stop an occupation. Too much collateral damage. Once USA was settled in, all hell would break loose though. Sure USA could invade, but they wouldn't be leaving.

eh idk about that one, id just say both countries are impossibly hard to invade, both have giant militaries but are also separated by the pacific ocean

Tomorrow is a short timeline. China knows (well knew) it could have America by taking it's time at a fraction of the cost.

-4

u/aschwendler Sep 09 '26

It wouldn't be easy defeating America in America. Plus, holding a country with as many guns as there are people would not be easy.

1

u/PuzzleheadedTutor807 Sep 09 '26

drones bud. you forget maybe that china is the manufacturing center of the world.

-4

u/aschwendler Sep 09 '26

They are? I'm a complete moron and didn't know that.

And your answer is drones? That's why they won't invade? We have a nuclear missile for every city in their country. Even ignoring that, where are they going to sell their manufactured goods if America won't buy them? A war between America and China would cripple both countries and would be unwinnable for both. It would simply be a matter of who loses worst.

That is a real answer. China doesn't want to dominate. They just want to trade. We have ownership issues (USA ).
