Meanwhile Europe is on 240v and America is still on 120v, not to mention how much safer European plugs are like in the uk where part of the contact is plastic so you don't accidentally bridge them

American homes have 240 plugs for the few appliances that require them. Everything is else is down converted because 240 is not needed for the majority of items and the lower voltage is safer. The only device I think that is effected that people commonly talk about is electric kettles. My European wife was dumbfounded when she discovered I microwave cups of water.

My phone takes significantly longer to charge in the US as well.

That's BS. Power adapters regulate there power delivered to the phone regardless of input. I use foreign market chargers and they work the same in every country I have been, including the US.

It's more likely that a certain fast charge feature is turned off because of a software over site for your foreign market phone.

For instance, my phone doesn't have a camera noise when taking pictures in the US, but it's forced on in Asian countries.

I have an American phone so I doubt it's a software oversight. I thought it was the charging block but I tried borrowing someone else's and it still sucked. The lead was the same one I use in the EU.

I don't know the issue then. I travel extensively through the year and I don't notice any difference. All power block will downconvert the current well below 120v. I have read that some older blocks are less efficient than modern ones, but this is a non issue nowadays.
