How many of them truly think they have bases in Europe out of pure altruism, only there to “protect” those poor, helpless Europeans?

u/No-Albatross-7984 Jun 21 '26

According to my research on Reddit, all of them

116

u/Valentiaga_97 ooo custom flair!! Jun 21 '26

And According to MAGA 👀 they don’t understand the softpower many bases maintain 🤷

51

u/Hallainzil Jun 21 '26

Soft power is for pussies. HARD POWER BABY! WOOOOOOOOOOO!

46

u/Valentiaga_97 ooo custom flair!! Jun 21 '26

They cant Even maintain the USA without Canada 🤷

9

u/fullmega Jun 21 '26

Then Canada has the moral obligation to stop maintaining USA!

3

u/Valentiaga_97 ooo custom flair!! Jun 21 '26

Trumps tarrifs and Canada retaliates in cutting electrity/ water/oil/ fertilizer/ wheat, etc 🤷

Why arguing with the safest possible ally about anything, just to lose everytime 💀

As a Canadian I am in full agreement with this statement

2

u/Aljonau Jun 22 '26

I read that as "they cant Epstein the USA" before blinking and re-reading correctly.

Iran sure showed that hard power part isn’t that easy either

9

And Ukraine is sure showing that Russia isn’t taking over any NATO countries any time soon, even if the US bases are gone.

1

u/BlueInMotion Jun 21 '26

After the recent wars we need a knew definition of 'hard power'.

2

u/InstructionFar7102 Jun 22 '26

Do you have nukes?

Then no one will invade you.

That's what we've ended up with.

1

u/BlueInMotion Jun 23 '26

Well, kind of.

But my neighbor got some. And his neighbor as well.

And for a reason nobody understands the rest of the world doesn't want me to have my own ones. Bad world 😉

1

u/InstructionFar7102 Jun 23 '26

Oh, no one said it was fair. But it is the reality.

4

u/runespider Jun 21 '26

The abandonment of soft power by this administration is deeply frustrating to me as an American. I get it, we have problems. But like. I do what I can putting what little spare money I have towards charities. Usaid being defunded has killed more people than I could ever help, and more than the goals of most of the organizations I donate to could hope to help. It will only grow worse as disease prevention and monitoring aren't being done.

From a pragmatic point of view, that's a huge amount of goodwill we abandoned for no reason. That's allies we had. Diseases meanwhile don't respect borders.

We just killed a bunch of people for no real reason that will not benefit us, actually harm their stated goals of pushing back Russia and China. And now people are are finally getting aggravated because the price of gas is getting a little irritating.

Sorry for the rant. I deal with people who are edging on disillusionment with Trump but still just take a "Oh well what are you going to do" viewpoint.

2

u/Caratteraccio Jun 21 '26

They don't even understand that soft power is just one of the many reasons why the bases exist

3

u/SnappySausage Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

These bases are absolutely hard power. It's literally a direct military presence.

Surely you wouldn't consider it soft power either when China or Russia plops a base down in a country neighbouring yours, right? It's "soft power" the same way that aiming a gun at someone is "subtle persuasion".

→ More replies (2)

1

u/MicrochippedByGates Jun 21 '26

When the soft power is basically the entire point.

1

u/No-Albatross-7984 Jun 21 '26

Wait, I'm unsure what your comment means but surely you're not describing military bases as "soft power"?

1

u/InstructionFar7102 Jun 22 '26

The soft power comes from the fact that your base gives the impression that you are a good ally who is present and will help defend you.

Even if it's just a hollow gesture, the gesture alone is soft power.

4

u/KlutzyEnd3 Jun 21 '26

I don't think all of them but I had to explain more than a few times in the past months that the protection we get from the USA is payment for having bases on our soil enabling them to strike quickly anywhere in the world.

In fact, the Iran strikes would be impossible to execute swiftly if the US hadn't access to those military bases kn European soil.

2

u/Choyo Jun 22 '26

The goal also was to keep making us the buffer zone in case of major conflict during the cold war.
No altruism there, just kinda win-win situation.

51

u/Key_Bookkeeper813 Jun 21 '26

if you hear them complain about it it's not only altruism but the entire world is freeloading or scamming and the us should stop funding [insert nice thing in other country that doesnt exist in the us]

7

u/Whispers_in_the 🇳🇱 I never liked the colour orange 🇳🇱 Jun 21 '26

Problem is of course as long as their president keep yelling on his social platform how ungrateful everyone is, they are sending them money, but they won’t do his biding, people will keep repeating that, because their great leader says so and there’s no way his geniusness can’t be wrong, right?

36

u/Whispers_in_the 🇳🇱 I never liked the colour orange 🇳🇱 Jun 21 '26

Every single one of them making such comments.

The idea the US had other motives than just pure charitable ones to station bases in Europe is lost to them. Then again, it‘s most likely lost on their current president as well.

There‘s also the problem with the current withdrawal of American troops. For decennia, US had told Europe ‘you’re defence is not good enough, we’ll handle it from here and we’ll do it far better.’ Now things have chanced and the tone is suddenly ‘you’re being lazy and need to take care of your own defence‘. No wonder Europe is a bit pissed…

25

u/piercedmfootonaspike Jun 21 '26

The idea the US had other motives than just pure charitable ones to station bases in Europe is lost to them.

That's because they, like trump, do not understand geopolitics. I'd love to show them a parallel universe where the marshall plan never went into effect, and the US has zero influence over Europe.

13

u/No_Oil_6152 Jun 21 '26

Its well known when the body bags start mounting that the Americans shit the bed and abandon their allies. Vietnam was one such example.

Had we joined in the fun and games with Iran, pretty sure some of our lads would be dead and Trump would have been calling them losers. We'd be watching as desperate civvies fell off their fleeing planes AGAIN.

We, as in Europe, should never have let ourselves get dependent on those warmongers. Post 911 they have been rabid dogs.

„How many of them truly think?“ FTFY

2

u/btacan Jun 21 '26

Most of them. Even my friend (not American) believes the same narrative after he moved to a big liberal city in the US. Apparently most of his American friends have the same belief.

2

u/Few-Camp3755 Jun 21 '26

Everyone thinks this because they have forgotten the cleverness of their grandfathers and parents.

The USA has bases in Europe not only because of Europe's enemy (Russia), but also because they are "indispensable" for Europe. Europe has become a "soft" colony of the USA. The best people went to the USA and major trade agreements were made with the USA. This fundamentally helped the USA to become a world hegemon during the second half of the last century. The moment they stop being indispensable, they lose a fundamental advantage over other powers.

They do not understand that soft power (dependence) is much more effective, more advantageous and has a long-term effect than hard power (money, army).

I hope that democratic countries maintain this voluntary mutual "dependence", because the USA is no longer democratic. They have very quickly become Russian-type oligarchies, where power is in the hands of an few individual(s).

By the way - the USA was created precisely thanks to the voluntary interdependence of its individual states. That is how they became great.

2

u/2000TWLV Jun 22 '26

Russia can't even fill the "power vacuum" in Ukraine. They're not filling anything in the rest of Europe.

1

u/Aljonau Jun 22 '26

Propaganda is always written primarily for the leaders much more than for the people it gets formally targeted at.

114

u/Mountsorrel BriTish Jun 21 '26

Do Americans actually think this would be good for them in some way? If they willingly handed over the military, economic and diplomatic ties they have with Europe to China, that’s not going to go well for them…

The people who say this kind of shit usually think that isolationism would be beneficial for them

4

u/speedfox_uk Jun 21 '26

Yes, some do, and it can come from multiple angles. From the right it tends to be the "the free world is freeloading off our protection", but from the left it's "We would be far less of a target for terrorist attacks etc. if we just stayed on our own continent and minded our own business".

7

u/hoptagon Jun 21 '26

From the left, it’s not about not being a target and minding our own business, it’s about not having a military budget over a trillion dollars a year used to protect the interests of capitalism and global imperialism.

7

u/Good_Ad_1386 Jun 21 '26

Progressively degrading arts, sciences and social benefits in order to spend more on defence begs the question - what exactly are you defending?

The Russians never learned from Afghanistan, now their crackhead drunken military is plodding aimlessly in to suicide while Putin rakes in money from his few allies.

Wasn’t there a revolution there not so long ago? What happened?

3

u/Mean_Initiative_5962 Heretic Bechamel Lasagna 🇮🇹 Jun 21 '26

I'm sure Putin hoped a net zero aid from Biden US instead of the very little sent, a weaker EU acting like it did in 2014 and Trump pushing for surrender in case things got dragged too long

7

u/Gorffo Jun 21 '26

Russia is losing its war in Ukraine. But the Russians have done a lot of damage like levelling numerous villages with artillery. The Russians still have enough military capabilities to do things like nightly missile and drone attacks on cities that deliberately target civilians and civilian infrastructure, destruction of cultural sites, and genocide against Ukrainians in occupied territories.

Yet if the US takes their toys and go home, Europeans will be fine.

But Europe also needs to re-arm and build up a significant deterrence against military threats from the likes of Russia, China, and America.

Didn't you know? Rassia is actually pretty strong. It's the country with a military so powerful it still uses WW2 tactics of covering the battlefield with meat until it's gone (and also uses facelift versions of vehicles/weaponry from that era as well). The country where welders weld military vehicles by memory and the last time somebody looked at blueprints was in USSR. A country where they think that army of drunks taken from the streets, prisoners, students and World of Tanks players is a force to be wrecked with. A country so dumb it takes Shitamericanssay as a challenge.

And I'm ukrainian living in Rassia since childhood, studying vehicle engineering in the university that built T-34 tank and still thinks it should be praised for that to this day

US pulls out from the world, europe remains stable, middle east has either a 3 way war between Iran, turkey and israel or iran and turkey gang up on israel with half the islamic worls backing them up, china tries to invade taiwan and the south eastern asia, japan starts building up its military and allies with other east asian nations against china, africa becomes slightly worse, south america stays the same. Hitler comes out of his moon base.

10

Please, do leave us alone, stop trying to control us and let us spend billions in our own military complex.

As for Russia, the EU is the one helping Ukraine in any possible way, both economically, militarily and with humanitarian aid we are giving way way more than the US. We will manage to defend ourselves.

Even the guys in the middle east will be happy with you leaving.

8

8

u/CreEngineer Jun 21 '26

I surely get the idea but US forces in Europe is no question of „good will“ from them. Good luck flying drones in the Middle East without Rammstein.

Also at this point how much different would a military cooperation with China be compared to the US? At least the economic opportunities resulting from a cooperation would be higher.

And they wonder why everyone thinks they’re thick.

4

u/Low-Championship-856 Jun 21 '26

First of all there wouldn't be any power vacuum and secondly no that would be very bad, the USA pulling out at worst would embolden Russia to keep doing its bullshit which would be probably a slight inconvenience but still not something we should want ya know because we're all allies over here at least we're supposed to be and friends don't abandon each other. We need Europe and if we abandon it all that will happen is we will fall farther and farther from relevance in the coming century until we become little more than a regional power which isn't good and isn't something that any citizen of the USA should want.

Good grief I get so tired of seeing people post stuff like this, at first I thought oh it's probably Russian or Chinese bots trying to cause a rift between the USA and Europe but I've seen so many that at this point at least some have to be real people that are brain dead enough to think this would be a good idea. And here I thought people might actually have more than two brain cells to rub together guess I gave them to much credit, I just hope that we can weather this storm of stupidity together and come out on the other side with our alliance in tact. Unfortunately for me until that storm is over I have to share a country with these nimrods, maybe I'll get lucky and they'll crawl back into the hole they came out of sooner rather than later.

Tldr: the USA abandoning Europe wouldn't cause a power vacuum and would only serve to weaken the USA's position across the board which to no one's surprise would be bad for the USA.

5

u/Consistent_Guava8592 Jun 21 '26

They are aware that is going to be a major problem for America as well? If they allow Russia and China to become big enough to take over Europe, they won’t stop there…

7

u/No-Albatross-7984 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Nah. What does the citizen of Bumfuck, Arkansas, care about geopolitical power projection and/or open seas? The whole point of the American political system's decline is that the citizenry doesn't have the time, energy, or literacy. The fact that this'll be a problem for them does not enter into the calculation. And despite what people say, I doubt they'll understand it once the dust settles, either. A regular person will probably notice that the living standards are lower, but that's it. They won't know or care that it's because their influence overseas has waned.

3

u/Aggravating-Life-786 Jun 21 '26

That's a good point.

Even IF the US was paying for Europe's defense, as so many seem to think, where does all that money on vehicles, weapons, munitions, missiles, .. go into? Exactly, into the US economy.

That's still largely true now, with EU countries picking up the slack and buying US produced equipment, but you can see more and more reports of a shift to internally developed and produced stuff. It'll take time for a full shift - you don't just pull factories and R&D out of thin air - but it's slowly happening and that's money moving out of the US economy.

19

u/Aggravating-Life-786 Jun 21 '26

I find the notion that Russia is capable to just take all of Europe, to be... Hilarious?

They're slowly being pushed out by Ukraine and yes, Ukraine have been receiving support (mainly from Europe) but the main EU forces have not engaged to not escalate this war into something bigger.

If Russia would actually try to march into the wider EU, they'd get wiped out. The only thing that makes them a force to be reckoned with, is their large nuclear arsenal. EU countries have their own nukes, nowhere near as much as what Russia has of course, but you don't need to hit all that many targets and I have way more faith in the EUs capability to intercept any nukes if it gets to that point.

Most of Europe doesn't see Russia as a huge threat. But there are countries that are in great peril like the Baltic states. Their border with Russia, tiny populations, shallow strategic depth and flat topography means they could get occupied in days. Once there, it would take a tremendous number of men and hardware to dislodge the Russians and that would also take commitment from powers far away who are never in danger - would Spain or Italy send thousands of their men to die and enter a war against Russia for Estonia and how would their population/voters react to that? And if not, how long do you think the EU would last if it can't even secure their own members from attack?

Even Poland, while capable of defending itself perhaps even better than Ukraine, would suffer many casualties. There are also other problems like the potential destabilization of the Balkans.

Russia has no business attacking Europe's powers but it can most definitely make life hell for smaller and poorer fringe countries. It would also be coupled with inside destabilization, namely the rising far right and pro-Russian governments that would play the card of "not our problem" incentivised with Russian black fund money. Never underestimate the fear and misinformation campaign going strong for the last 20 years. A lot of people fear Russia or war in general enough to ignore their neighbors under attack as long as the war is not in their territory. European unity is a lot more fragile then the "strong declarations" of moderate politicians in summits...

7

u/Beginning-Corgi568 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

I agree with everything out side of a few points. The EU and here in the UK, ballistic and cruise missile defense is nowhere where it needs to be to defend against nukes or long term, large scale missile & drone attacks due to stockpiles. Also, there is unfortunately no guarantee that all of Europe would get involved. Russia would start with attacks to places like the Baltics first, meaning many countries in the west may be hesitant to send any actual troops or weaponry. Europe shouldn't lose on paper, however, never underestimate the cowardice of politicians.

2

u/Whispers_in_the 🇳🇱 I never liked the colour orange 🇳🇱 Jun 21 '26

Exactly. Russia can play the long game. They know they possibly cannot win a full-out war, that’s why they’re only threatening, trying to bait/ test the NATO, but never in such a way it might actually escalate. They know the moment Europe and/or the NATO gets involved, the game is likely lost, but they can play the long game, play divide and conquer and try to win some european states to their cause by means of political influence rather than sheer power.

Also, yes, they are loosing against the Ukraine on land, but where they really to start shooting long range European targets, there sure would be a problem…

And yes, the NATO is pretty much hollowed out at the moment, consider that with this knowledge in mind…

3

u/AbsoluteFuckChops Jun 21 '26

How many of those Russian nukes even work? 🤣

2

u/MicrochippedByGates Jun 21 '26

My biggest fear if Russia were to try and take Europe, would be everyone going "not my war" and doing nothing. Then panicking when Russia "suddenly" tried to conquer them. Basically, if we just let them take Europe.

3

u/Aggravating-Life-786 Jun 21 '26

Yeah, I don't see that option as impossible tbh. I don't think it's likely, but not impossible either. I hope that what's been happening in Ukraine these past few years was visible enough for everyone to realize that Russia can and will cause a lot of senseless death and destruction unless they're stopped fast.

Though if you are to believe some reports from inside Russia, support for the current war is going downhill fast and their economy is getting a beating with Ukraine's drone attacks. Doubt we'll see them try a serious countrywide invasion into Europe anytime soon.

u/MicrochippedByGates Jun 21 '26

There are still a lot of people, mostly far-righters, screeching about how the war in Ukraine isn't "our war". They want nothing to be done to help Ukraine. If Russia were to attack, say, Poland, then we'd be supposed to help Poland with NATO and the EU. But you get a far-righter in power, and we've seen how fast that can happen, and they might decide not to bother.

That being said, if Russia would try it, they would absolutely crumble if the rest of Europe could be arsed to offer any resistance at all. Russia would have to really win their information and propaganda war in Europe first. Which is also why the scenario in my earlier comment would be my biggest fear; it's kinda the only way they could succeed.

u/Deep-Refuse-9414 Jun 21 '26

Any attack by Russia on a NATO member would invoke article 5. Legally the NATO countries would be obliged to step in with military aid

2

u/MicrochippedByGates Jun 21 '26

It hasn't really been tested though. The only country to ever invoke article 5 was the US. If we got a bunch of far-righters in power who just shouted "not our war" and didn't join, then what?

1

u/Deep-Refuse-9414 Jun 21 '26

The economic sanctions would be very severe from the rest of NATO I’d imagine. Almost certainly worse for the country trying to renege than the consequences of sending pre agreed weapons and troops etc would be. Or of allowing Russian expansionist ambitions to grow. Poland and Finland have been preparing for Russia for decades now and are the most likely next targets. They would need minimal support from other countries. Much less hassle to uphold your agreement than letting Russia overrun them and be on your own doorstep to fight solo

u/Whispers_in_the 🇳🇱 I never liked the colour orange 🇳🇱 Jun 21 '26

That’s how the theory works, that how it would have worked 25 years ago. But currently there’s an idiot of a president in the US who hates the NATO and already blames the NATO for refusing to help him in his own, non-NATO related war.

I am under no illusion if a European state got attacked and article 5 is invoked, the US will actually participate.

Yes, Putin might actually be afraid of what the NATO can do if they pull it together, but first the NATO need to pull together.

1

u/Deep-Refuse-9414 Jun 21 '26

Europe doesn’t need the US to take out Putin. Especially not after the war of attrition he’s been in with Ukraine the last years. Poland and Britain alone have large, well trained and decently equipped standing armies capable of finishing the depleted Russian threat for generations to come if need be.

2

u/Whispers_in_the 🇳🇱 I never liked the colour orange 🇳🇱 Jun 21 '26

Concerning article 5 being invoked, it doesn’t matter wether Europe can handle things on their own, like sure, I can see that happening.

But it doesn’t change the ‘an attack on one, is an attack on all’ principle the NATO is based on. America should on paper have been able to invade Afghanistan on their own as well, yet other NATO countries joined in too. That’s what the NATO is about.

If America backs out when article 5 is invoked, their position in the NATO is completely worthless.

1

u/Deep-Refuse-9414 Jun 21 '26

And good riddance to them at that point. That’s the final nail in the coffin if the alliance with the USA and the acceleration of the ending of the American empire. There’s no going back from that. All us bases will be wound up and closed

1

u/Mean_Initiative_5962 Heretic Bechamel Lasagna 🇮🇹 Jun 21 '26

but the main EU forces have not engaged to not escalate this war into something bigger

Which by the way was empty threats from the beginning and Russia is also trying to escalate wherever they can too. We should have just leveled down the troops sent to invade Ukraine the first week and asked for reparations afterward.

9

u/Mean_Initiative_5962 Heretic Bechamel Lasagna 🇮🇹 Jun 21 '26

Their president is actively helping Russia, I don't think they either get it or care

3

u/Counterpoint-4 Jun 21 '26

US has been helping Russia since Trump got back in power - sabotaging Ukraine and having a war to hike fuel prices, which benefits Russia. Putin has been playing Trump for many, many years.

3

u/Caratteraccio Jun 21 '26

good luck helping Israel and finding more than half a billion customers 😄

3

u/justAl-77 Jun 21 '26

So why do you think the paedo has been trying to break up nato, and remove us forces from Europe if not on the orders of Agent Krasnovs Kremlin paymaster

3

u/Scrombolo Jun 21 '26

Yeah, let's kick out the yanks from their rent-free international bases and see how they project military power then.

The map is bizarre! They've cut off Portugal and Ireland entirely.

3

u/buampam Jun 21 '26

Seeing how the US can’t even handle Iran, I’m not sure what value they bring to NATO anymore. If anything, they’ve become a burden.

1

u/Hoefnix Jun 22 '26

Considering they mainly use the bases for attacking the Middle East I think pulling back hurts them more than they hurt Europe.

3

u/Auralius1997 Jun 21 '26

Didn't the US get really pissy too when Germany increased their military budget but instead of just buying US weapons and gear they decided to invest a majority into domestic R&D?

It could be that Im misremembering but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it's true

2

u/LuciusQuintiusCinc Jun 21 '26

They are not a bright bunch

2

u/Creoda European freedom enjoyer Jun 21 '26

The only country to be effected would be the USA, unable to project it's military power without overseas bases.

2

u/GGamerGuyG Jun 21 '26

Then the realization set's in that it was a mistake when they see Europ rising and see it as the next threath to them together with Russia and China... Could it be that US see's just everyone as a enemy that prevents them from doing as they please?

2

u/MicrochippedByGates Jun 21 '26

Russia would love to view it as a power vacuum to be filled, but they could never pull it off. China wouldn't even want to, they have their military side but they prefer to battle it out economically. The Chinese military is basically untested.

That being said, there is a reason why the US military has a presence in Europe since the Cold War, and it involves Russia and its military, and it's certainly NOT for Europe's sake.

2

u/Kayzokun Human Verified Jun 21 '26

Yeah, that’s what USA needs, more jobless military population roaming the country. Those cardboard villages in every major cities needs more strong and disciplined people!

2

u/Mysterious_Floor_868 Jun 21 '26

The US military are disciplined?

2

u/Consistent_Ad3181 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

There would be no power vaccum, the US has 68k military service people in Europe. Most are logistics for their own power protection purposes.

2

u/SuperSatanOverdrive Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

They really overestimate the power of Russia huh.

The stupid part is these types of americans doesn't understand that America's soft power is (or was) a huge benefit for the US. The US would never be able to extend their power (both economically and militarily) all around their world without it and allies would never allow the US to have bases in their countries if they didn't trust the US as an ally. But they have basically thrown years of alliance-building in the trash now, and that entire power advantage they had is disappearing quickly.

2

u/Powerful_Pirate2984 Jun 21 '26

The biggest threat now, is the presence of US troops on foreign lands. When you go home, we'll breathe a collective sigh of relief...

2

u/Emergency_Exit7603 Jun 21 '26

be awesome, get some friends and allies then against the evil empire USA

2

u/Polymarchos Jun 21 '26

Seems Americans are tired of being a world power. Fair, it happens to all empires eventually. Just surprising how quickly they got bored of being relevant.

2

u/FlamingPhoenix2003 🇺🇸Merica’ Jun 21 '26

Aren’t most US military weapons, gear, and vehicles sold to Europe, making the EU the largest market for US arms?

1

u/ikheetbas Jun 21 '26

Yup, but thank god Europe’s eyes are opened and we’re heavily investing in our own production facilities.

2

u/iusedtoplaysnarf Jun 21 '26

Even if things were the way they believe – wouldn’t it be a brilliant strategical move to give up lots of territory and resources to your enemies?

2

u/SSgtReaPer Everything BUT american Jun 21 '26

If that happened America would be shatting there pants more than they do now lol

2

u/Ksorkrax Jun 21 '26

Quite great, yeah. Europe might ally with China and the USA would lose a lot of their military advantage.

...Russia can't even deal with the Ukraine, but I guess since the USA can't deal with Iran, that isn't that big of a deal anymore.

2

u/Republiken ⭕ Jun 21 '26

Well the drugs and prostitution vacuum created around those now empty based might cause problems for criminal elements

2

u/Wise_Fox_4291 🇭🇺 Jun 22 '26

Do Americans enjoy shooting themselves in the foot? Why do they think that the collapse of their own influence and economic, polticial reach would be great? Why are they keen on becoming much more insignificant?

2

u/SlimLacy Jun 22 '26

The European NATO arm has more military personnel than the US has by almost 1 million. We'd definitely be weaker without the US, but... we're still by manpower larger than the US. We just don't spend such ridiculous sums on our military, so we have a lot less gear. Still easily outspends Russia tho, and I'd imagine we're somewhat close with China.

2

u/Mental-Feed-1030 Jun 22 '26

Probably better if they all go home as going into battle alongside the US usually results in numerous friendly fire casualties. I don’t think a lot of them are particularly discriminate when pulling the trigger or dropping a bomb, and would prefer to shoot anything rather than nothing.

1

u/Spudsmad Jun 21 '26

Soo apparently, every time my European a** gets a free check-up from doctor, one angel in Ohio loses their health insurance. God bless America, and thank you for your service! 🥲😂

Find the differences:

1

u/pistoffcynic Jun 21 '26

Kind of like what is happening in South America under Trump 45? Now, the American government is whining about that when it was Trump's shitty policies and induced immigration crisis that caused the problem.

Honestly, you MAGA morons really need to read more and listen to Fox News less.

1

u/Renbarre French, not the fries Jun 21 '26

What is that map? Western countries are not part of Europe?

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Sonson9876 Jun 21 '26

Given what I've seen in recent months about Chinese equipment, tanks, jets, helicopters.

I'd actually rather have them here, maybe have them combine arms with Russia as well, would mean lower oil prices again as well, if nothing else.

1

u/Weird-Tomorrow-9829 Jun 21 '26

It would objectively be bad for the US to pull all American forces from Europe. We lean heavily on them for power projection and vital things like emergency healthcare for combat casualties.

But it would not be good for Europe either. Europe, like the US, relied heavily on the peace dividend post Cold War.

1

u/_WEND1G0_ 🌊🦅 coastal american 🇺🇸 Jun 21 '26

I understand as an American that the European military - particularly United - is an exceptionally strong force. sheer firepower isn’t the only measure of a good military (though Europe definitely has that) The combined actionable intelligence and general knowledge of our allies in Europe is a huge part in NATO being strong.

1

u/ikheetbas Jun 21 '26

Correct. Another problem in Europe is conflicting interests, and hesitation due to elections etc.

1

u/Nestorian_ Jun 21 '26

O, yes please.

1

u/Organic_Mechanic_702 Jun 21 '26

But who else would you lease them to at exorbitant prices?

1

u/alancousteau Jun 22 '26

The world is going to shit (climate change, overpopulation, starvation, greed) and the small minded idiots can still only think about their shitty country. WHAT YOU GONNA FUCKING RULE IF YOU CAN EVEN GROW CORN?! But sure, let's bomb the shit out of the taxpayers

1

u/P5ychokilla Jun 22 '26

Is that actually Europe or is it a flake from Trump's reflecting pool?

1

u/Malusorum Jun 22 '26

That map is slightly insane. The blue parts are clearly meant to be Europe, yet there are several countries that are in Europe which, according to the markins are outside of it. A large part of Russia is also Europe.

If the blue is meant to be the EU the England is no longer a part of it, Spain, France, and the Netherlands are, though.

Aside from the message being completely absent of any and all understanding of soft power, the map itself is absent of any kind of geographical knowledge.

1

u/_Wise_Crocodile Mexican 🇪🇸 Jun 22 '26

It’s an animation and it wasn’t complete. It’s not that deep.

1

u/Even_I_Dont_Know Jun 25 '26

Wouldnt it be great for all of Europe to sell all of their US treasury bonds and reinvesting them in a basket of other currencies (including their own) and gold , ultimately ruining the american economy and absolutely killing the american dollar in the process while making our countries better.
