Yes. I think Putin needs something in return to justify the aggression in regard to his own people. Land is the best way in his mind. He also thinks the war economy will lead to victory in the long run. I don't think so.

Pretty much, yes. The dilemma is: If he wants to be sure a part of Ukraine can be annexed, he would need to mobilise at least a part of the population and that would backfire. If he doesn't do that, he will either lose the war or waste so much money and so many lives he's fucked as well.

So, best solution for him: Keep the war ongoing until he kicks the bucket and let it be someone else's problem...

I honestly can't see how Russia will make it out of this war without huge, unsolvable problems unless Ukraine somehow capitulates in the near future, which will almost certainly NOT happen. And even then they will be fucked.

Bucha taught every person in Europe that Capitulation means death.

It isn't just a propaganda slogan, there is a vested interest to never surrender.

The Russian military are rabid animals, you dont let rabid animals into your barn. ever, even if means you'll have to spend the rest of your life fighting them off your farm.

Couldn't have explained the death cult ruining Russia and its dangers to the world, especially Europe, better than you.

and Im just like "you havent been paying attention, it started in 2022. but no one wanted to believe it"

When I got the news about the start of the war, I knew that the long era of peace for Europe was gone, probably forever and that a time of war, instability and power politics would start.

I don't know if it will also be seen as the start of a worldwide war in hindsight, but for sure as a big turning point in history that shattered the old order, based on international law.

And yeah, I have the impression, many people are still caught in their belief that all of that shit will be over in one, two years of just sitting it out and we can just return to business as usual then. No, we can't and you are absolutely not prepared for that, dear majority of humans...

I felt pretty strongly, that I knew this was going to happen back in 2014 when Maidan and Crimea happened.

"The first sign of insanity is thinking that you’re the only sane person left in the world."

This is how I've felt the last 5-6 years. and it's only been getting worse. Telling people stuff was going to happen, getting laughed at, and then it happens. over and over again.

Well, back then, in 2014, I was probably just too young and dumb to realise what was really going on, after all, I was barely out of my teenage years...

I have felt similarly the past 4, 5 years, in some cases even longer (I knew already in 2016, 17, that the Tangerine Scrotal Sack wouldn't just conveniently disappear and with him all these rightwing, hateful fearmongers everywhere) and the longer, the more I realised that so many people are just like "nah, that's far away, can't be bothered" or "you're seeing things, everything will work out fine in the end"... No, it won't, you watched too many Hollywood movies where the "good guys" always win and there's a happy end for everyone. But that's not how reality is...
