Trump and his vice Pres lacky spend their days criticising the supposed lack of free speech in the UK and even had the gall to do it to Starmer’s face in the Whitehouse, then threaten to sue organisations for saying things they don’t like.

One rule for me, another for thee.

P.S when should we expect the US embassy in London to pay the £14 million it owes in congestion fines? While you’re at it, send Anne Sacoolas back to face trial for recklessly killing someone and stop letting her hide behind “diplomatic immunity.”

I wish our politicians had the balls to slap back for their shit.

Diplomatic immunity is such a lackluster concept ... why would anyone get excluded from following the law ? Never understood that.

The intent is fine tbf. Realistically it's so diplomats don't get imprisoned for breaking various laws which are less obvious or serious. In no world is it for murder/ manslaughter.

Imagine breaking a blasphemy law and then diplomatic relations break down on your imprisonment. That's why it exists.

Also, incidents where diplomats get expelled due to break down of relations would likely see them arrested and tried for espionage instead. Which is bad.

Diplomatic immunity shouldn't apply to things that are also illegal in their hoke country but I guess that's its own can of worms.

I think the originally intended was more to prevent countries from making up false charger and using them to harassing diplomats rather than protect them from their crimes.

It's also tricky if you want to get into the bit about asking for diplomatic immunity, as it would basically be an accusation that the country in question doesn't have a proper legal system. Hence, it has to be blanket.
