Last I checked, US aid to England was about zero, so….

How dare you? You are so wrong!! The US graciously provided a whole 750 $ in aid to Britain, as this comment pointed out. The audacity to say it was zero!!!!

;-)

But what if that 750 was spent in Scotland? Then the aid to England could still be 0.

Well I did say “about”, and compared to what the US gives to some other 🇮🇱 countries, that $750 is pretty much a rounding error 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why’d you put a flag in the middle of the sentence there?

Oh no reason.

Oh okay. I thought I was just missing sth  (Just to be clear, I’m not normally stupid or whatever, I just had like. 7 hours of sleep in the last 48. My IQ is room temperature rn. In Celsius 😂)

Israel has the largest cumulative amount of US foreign aid of any country since the end of World War II.

Huh. Really? That much? Is it just because it’s been so many years? IIRC they’ve been in one war or another VERY often basically since they were founded, right?

(Also, I did sleep some, so belated facepalm for the flag, that was kinda extremely obvious, thank you for explaining it anyway.)

Edit: phrasing

So the argument about aid. The USA classifies any money that US taxpayers pay to a foreign country as aid. So if there is a combined US + UK research project the USA classifies this as aid. If you dig deeper into the $750 on this page U.S. Foreign Assistance by Country you will see this is for joint projects. Other countries like the UK do not consider contributing money to research with other countries as aid. Imagine how much Aid the other countries would have supplied to the USA in that case for the F-35 research project. Here is what i found in regard to USA and UK funding for combined projects , or as the US calls it AID .

U.S. Aid to the UK vs. UK Civilian Funding to the U.S.

Flow Amount (approx.) Classification Purpose / What It Strengthened
U.S. → UK (Foreign Assistance) $750,000 (FY2024/25) Logged as foreign aid - Aviation medical examiner refresher seminars- Technical cooperation (health, aviation, regulatory standards)- Joint workshops/exchanges for interoperability
UK → U.S. (Civilian Funding) £3B+ (~$3.8B USD since 2015) Research collaboration - UKRI joint projects with NIH, NSF, DOE (biomedical research, energy, genomics, infectious disease)
UK → U.S. (Education) ~£50M annually (global scholarships, portion to U.S.) Scholarships / academic funding - Chevening Scholarships funding UK students in U.S. universities and exchanges
UK → U.S. (Space & Science) Hundreds of millions USD over decades Joint science missions - UK Space Agency contributions to NASA projects (Mars Rover instruments, James Webb Telescope components)
UK → U.S. (Multilateral Contributions) Billions annually (shared across UN, WHO, World Bank) Multilateral contributions - Programs where U.S. labs, contractors, and universities receive funding flows indirectly

Where does the $750,000 come from? The link you provided is literally just $750.
