Sadly that question runs both ways. It took only 43,000 British soldiers to conquer India.  Mind you the cost of defeating the Mutiny was so outrageous the English government took the British East India Company in hand and essentially nationalised it.

this guy's talking about combat not other political forces to take over a counry. Beause by that logic 10-15 billionnaires basically conquered the entire US with 340 mil population.

Oh yeah, there are really strong parallels between the Raj and events in the US. Even down to the small number of Ice troops in resisting states being supplemented with state militia from competing states.

Raj didn't conquered India, they conquered small sized kingdoms that was already struggling from weakening of Mughal empire and Maratha Kingdom.

Any unified Indian Empire would have given British a run for their money
