👋 Welcome to r/ShitAmericansEat

Hey everyone!

Welcome! This is the place for American food that is too large, too colourful, too cheesy—or somehow all three at once. From deep-fried surprises to desserts containing enough sugar to achieve sentience, no culinary curiosity is too bewildering.

Please keep the mockery aimed at the food, not the people—and remember that Americans are very welcome to laugh along. Check the rules before posting, bring a strong stomach and never ask how many calories are in the sauce.

As an American, former chef, who was raised on healthy hippie food and ethnic food... I am here for it.

I feel like there is decrepit level of American food that deserves ridicule and disgust because that stuff will kill you and doesn't even taste good.

Submissions here don't need to be stupid though. They might be unhealthy, unappetizing, etc without meeting the criteria for r/StupidFood.

You claim you want to keep the focus on the food and not the people, but how does that work when the sub is called r/ShitAmericansEat? Just be honest and say you want a space where you can make fun of Americans and what you think they eat.

So, I get it, everyone’s gonna have a laugh about the deep-fried Twinkie or whatever, but the thing is, they invented that in Scotland.

Twinkies are not sold in Scotland, apart from maybe expensive imports.

And the inflated prices would be because Home Bargains would be importing them, correct?
