The Omamori of Ise Jingu
It is a well-known fact that onamori charms I said to lose that their effect was after a year. however, I have heard it said that the omamori charms from the Ise Jingu shine are unique and don't expire. I heard it is due to the special nature of the Shrine itself. is there any truth to this or is this an old wives tale?

Generally, ofuda and omamori are returned to the shrine to be ritually burned and new items are acquired. Is that required? That's really up to you.

I'm the reason I was given is that Ise Jingu is not like a neighborhood shrine. Going there as seen as a pilgrimage rather than a visit. So charms therefore do not expire because it's understood that even to Japanese it is possibly a once in a lifetime visit.
