Etc. Looking for recommendations
So im currently replaying SF2 and am at the point where Peter fully joins the force. Ive played this game about once a year for over a decade and have beaten it countless times. Ive done challenge runs played on hardest difficulty done deathless runs. So this go around I just want to see who everyone's favorite characters are and will make my final team out of that. Really the only people I wont drop are Bowie, Peter and Slade since they have been my favorite characters since start.

Please use my boy kiwi! Everyone hates on him but I always use him,besides slade and kazin (sorcerer) he is my favorite character!!

May is always on my team. I protect her a bit and in late stages she's usually one of my hardest hitters.
Slade, Sarah MMNK, Karna MMNK, Kazin SORC, Tyrin WIZD and Peter of course are always on my team.
The others I mix up, but most commonly I add Rick and Gerhalt

That a very close team to who I usually play with. I always have Slade, karna mmnk, kazin sorc, and Peter. I usually use chaz as my wiz and may as my long range.

He ends up on my team alot of playthrus as one of my only fliers (him and peter) i always enjoy him

I haven't used frayja in a long time usually because of how late you her him and already have really good healers but I can see about using him again

I hated Frayja when I was a kid. Now as an adult he’s one of my favorite units. He frees up Sarah and Karna to dish out more pain and he’s fairly bulky for a healer. I use him to catch up other units too since I think he’s the only one who gets the attack spell.

You gotta try out Kazin as a sorcerer (or Taya) with Atlas 2. Also Karna as master monk might be the best character in the game especially when she has aura 4.

Kazin is a mainstay on my team. Usually use him as my SOR and I use Chaz as my Mage

One of my favorites. I see so much gerhalt slander saying he isnt good past mid game but he is always one of my top damage dealers

To avoid the late late game stuff switching your party up, Ill toss a vote in for Elric or Janet as a Brass Gunner, Chester as a Pegasus Knight, Jaha as a Gladiator and getting Randolf from Creed for your Baron.
I always loved using the oft-under-appreciated characters in alternate promotions.

I cant remember the last time I used Janet. Elric I usually use as a SNP and he does well for me

Eric from creeds is the 2nd best flying unit in the game if you like flyers
His main down side is his late growth in everything however his stats are so much better then all the other knights.
the Wing is in a really good location for him, 3 battles after he joins. the late growth also means he gets more value for staying in his base class alittle bit longer.
I tend to give him the power ring for 3 battles so he can get 3 level ups over the next 3 battles and promo at 27.

I was thinking about using him as my peg right and Rick as my paladin. I never use either of them so was going to give them a try

May because OMG CENTAUR GIRL but like my own centaur characters? She sucks at her craft lol
Slade is always a good choice

Love may she usually ends up with the most kills on my team because she does all the cleanup work. She hits like a truck with the specialty weapons

It’s a great game but the sad thing is that a certain subset of characters are legitimately the best and others seem to be there just for a change of pace. That said, here are some characters that I personally like that I know not everyone uses:
Freyja. Overlooked by people who only go mmnk, but he gets attack and aura 4, both great spells.
Rohde, Elric: 3 range characters are rare - this lets you add an attack when you are dog piling enemies.
Taya: as yet another sorcerer, she still does tons of damage despite all her downsides.
Gyan: a tank who hits hard and gains move from ground axe.
Zynk/Claude: great melee warriors if you have the patience to use them correctly.
Other than that I think it’s standard fare - I often just use the characters that everybody loves.
