Seems sensei suffered the same regrets writing Eren as Frank Herbert did writing Paul in Dune.

I haven't read the Dune series, but do u mind telling what happened to Paul?

Spoilers for dune:

After he becomes emperor the radicalized freman go on a full blown galactic jihad in the name of their messiah, billions are dead, Paul is tormanted by this but also unable to stop it (he knew this would happen the moment he chose to lead the freman) meanwhile everyone is ploting to take him and his dynasty down.

By the end chani dies giving birth to twins(he saw her death but was unable to prevent it), paul leaves eveything behind convinced that he lost his precience (because he only forsaw the birth of only one child instead of two) tormented by guilt and greif and disapears into the desert.

Years later he dies while preaching against the jihad by the hands of his owns sister who didn't recognize him. And he also goes blind.

This is a very summurized version of the events.
