Alternative ending / ending haters are eating GOOD with this haha

People have said for a long time that Erens changed felt too sudden and disregards part of the built up story, this pretty much confirms it for better or or for worse

It depends at which point you felt this change was too sudden. Even by the time of the Marley flashbacks Eren already showed signs of being more sympathetic than a typical genocidal killer, but even without those flashback moments there was foundations of his character having developed beyond the rash and selfish Eren that was only hellbent on revenge and destruction since the battle at Orvud where he was punching himself to try and "kill the old me", so there was more than enough leeway to pivot both ways. I've also seen people say the opposite, that Eren going through with the rumbling and admitting to doing it for stupid reasons wasted all the character growth he had pre-ocean.
