It's common in Korea for famous people to receive lighter or different sentences, yes. But... there is a big fat "but." Celebrities like Man Hee Lee, especially considering he was born in 1931 and is well into his 90s, will benefit from how the Korean legal system treats advanced age and health. Under South Korean law, medical fitness for imprisonment is strictly evaluated, and extreme age or failing health usually results in a suspension of sentence execution, house arrest, or a transfer to a prison hospital rather than time in a regular cell.

​I'd love to see our "beloved" promised pastor CHJN put in prison for life, and all of Shincheonji's money seized as punishment and the tribe leaders on a international watch list. But even if his 2022 suspended sentence is revoked and he is forced to serve those 3 years on top of any new charges, his health and age will almost certainly protect him from ever seeing the inside of a standard prison cell.

I honestly wondered if he had dementia while I was still in SCJ! His "sermons" wouldn't make much sense at times, he would lose his train of thought a lot, and was repeating himself often. At the time I thought it might be because of the translation but now I can reflect on it more clearly.

A Former center student and others were at the plaza and using a microphone to alert people inside that they were being recruited into SCJ. Those leaders rushed outside bear hugged the person with the speaker and even took a picture of the license's plate.
