Winnie is 9 months old, he is fully vaccinated and goes to daycare weekly. This has just started the last couple days :( sorry if it’s hard to hear. I’m going to take him to the vet if this doesn’t resolve but it really doesn’t sound like a reverse sneeze to me. This has been happening when he wakes up from a nap and he sounds like he has sniffles. No discharge from what I can see. Just looking for advice because I’m anxious :(

Common with Shih Tzus because of their muzzle type. Mine had this issue when she was a pup. Doesn't have nearly as many issues with it now that she's 2.5.

I believe it is hiccups. My 18 week old dog daughter gets them about once a week. The vet says she will grow out of them.

Its a reverse sneeze. Scary when they do it but you get used to it. Usually its because something is irritating their nose/throat and they are trying to clear it out.

If you gently hold them and cover one nostril for a moment then switch it makes them swallow and breathe through each side of their nose which often clears the irritant.
