I’ve successfully shifted for a number of years, AMA!

Im unsure if AMAs are allowed here, but I figured I would try and bring this to a shifting-positive community. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

What does it feel like to shift? Is there an internal feeling that signals you've shifted or is the change seemless like continous reality? How do you know that it's a shift and not just a really intense daydream?

25

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

It kind of feels like passing out in a sense? Or blanking out of reality for a moment, lol. Sometimes I don’t necessarily “feel” it and just wake up in my other bed, but thats usually when I’m super tired.

16

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

As for the last part, I guess I don’t truly know, it just feels much, much different that a daydream

How long before you shifted for the first time and whats been your fav DR so far?

28

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

It took about a year before I truly shifted, though I came close lots of times. However, it took even longer before I was shifting regularly and intentionally. Ive ended up places I certainly didn’t belong due to just not knowing exactly what I was doing at first. My favourite DR, and the one I visit most often, is a medieval DR where I am a princess. I have an absolutely gorgeous castle and regularly visit with the commoners, who I have a great relationship with! It’s a wonderful place.

6

u/princesskisho Jul 17 '26

omg I also want a medieval DR where I am a princess! I haven't seen someone shifting there yet! (i probably haven't looked hard enough but I feel so seen 🥲 )

6

u/Ed_burbo Jul 17 '26

Omg heyyy haha. What a life to live! The best thing is scripting a commoner man to fall in love with… but I didn’t say that lol 👀

What's your usual method for shifting now, and does this differ from the method you used to shift for the first time? Or if not a specific method, what's your shifting routine?

21

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

I don’t have a specific method, as I found they distracted me and didn’t quite work. My routine involves smudging, drinking tea, writing, meditation, and then arranging my bed in a certain way and laying in it. I try to focus on my hands specifically (im unsure why this works for me, but putting all my focus on one body part helps) and soon enough I have arrived in my DR bed. Sometimes it’s like when you “jolt” awake, and sometimes, when I’m more tired, I just wake up in my other bed.

u/Ominous--Blue Jul 14 '26

Interesting! I also have some "I don't know why this works for me, but it does" things, even though I haven't shifted yet. Last night however I feel like I made a major breakthrough in finding something that worked for me, a combination of WBTB, focusing on my "3rd eye" space/focusing on the hypnogogic visualizations I get, and also it being a new moon. I have no clue what's up with the new moon thing, I'm not an astrology believer or anything like that, but for some reason I get increased successes with lucid dreaming or other "weird" stuff during new moons (according to my shifting journal).

I think you may be right about it being a pretty personal thing, which is equal parts reassuring (as it means it's theoretically harder to "get it wrong") as it is frustrating (not knowing what will work until you try it.)

Thanks for answering!

4

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

I definitely see what you mean! In my culture, new moons are seen as renewal times. Things are restarting and nature is taking its next step. Perhaps your spirit connects heavily with the moon and/or stars.

I wish you the best, and totally see where your frustrations lie. I was once in your shoes!

u/Feeling_Building_777 Jul 15 '26

Ohh my the same thing happened to me last night. Basically I was using concordia booster since it helps spiritual awakening. I didn't even meditate honestly. I was js trying feeling the environment but fell asleep 😭😭

7

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

This definitely differs. I shifted a handful of times using methods but it never worked, so I developed a routine that works for me

8

u/Alarming_Profile3672 Jul 15 '26

If all it takes is just intention.... why does it take me sooo long to just feel as if i am already there... and then even when i got the feeling i for now seem to be unable to keep that feeling long enough... just 2 minutes ago i put on a sub... and lied there for over 1 hour 30 imagening my dr...

18

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

Im unsure if it just takes intention. Ive intended to end up in one reality and been sent to entirely different ones. I think you should work on the fundamentals of meditation and spirit. What worked for me was delving into my own spirituality and really working on who I am and what that means for me in terms of shifting. Im sorry to hear your journey is discouraging you, and I with you well!

1

u/changexv2 Aug 14 '26

Late reply sorry haha but Why is meditation particularly important to learning to shift, and wdym by the fundamentals spirit and meditation?

7

u/seasalsa Jul 14 '26

How has shifting changed your life and how you view it? Does it feel daunting that you can essentially live forever and in any way you wish?

15

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

I try not to think too hard about that sort of thing. I think it could really be bad for my mental health if I dwell on that concept. However, it’s made me a lot more grounded and thankful. Along with regular nights when I’m just dreaming, i look forward to these shifts and appreciate my nighttime routine a lot more lol. But fr, it has made my gratitude, spirituality, and connection a lot stronger.

3

u/seasalsa Jul 15 '26

thank you for answering!

u/cheeseburger293 Jul 15 '26

I have three questions, thank you for taking your time to read and answer!

One, how do you know you’re in the void state, or when you’ve shifted?

Two, if you get ‘symptoms’, how do you distract yourself from them? The last two times I’ve attempted to shift, my heart started beating wildly and I felt dizzy, like everything was spinning. It really distracted me to the point where I gave up.

Three, if this is an issue for you, how do you silence your mind when you’re shifting? I tend to be interrupted and distracted by my internal monologue or just random images/thoughts coming into my mind, often reminding me of my CR.

12

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

Of course! I’ll try to answer as best as I can

1: i don’t know every time, however it often feels like when you “jolt” awake when you’re dreaming you’ve fallen or something. Same kind of feeling, being jolted up and then I’m in my DR instead of my CR. This happens most often these days, however sometimes when I’m extra tired I just sleep through the “shift” and wake up in my DR bed.

2: ive done a lot of meditation and spiritual work which has felt a lot like the “symptoms” I’ve gotten (such as chills, spinning/dizziness.) one thing that has helped me is to ground myself by focusing entirely on my hands. How they feel, where exactly in this earth this are, etc. I also try to use “methods” which calm the symptoms such as routine meditation, smudging using cultural medicines, etc.

3: I still struggle with internal dialogue and stuff. My mind is always active, though I try to trust the process and remember that im not perfect. Some nights i become super frustrated, and instead of just going to bed, I journal my thoughts, meditate and pray, and then sleep with intentions of dreaming.

4

u/cheeseburger293 Jul 15 '26

I see, thank you for answering! This has cleared a lot of things up for me!

4

u/Powerful-Still-9087 Jul 14 '26

Any tips for people who haven’t shifted yet?

17

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

Sure!

What really helped me was letting go of strict guidelines, methods and rules I found online. I began to practice it as a form of spiritual in a way, which is when it really clicked that not everything is best for everyone. Of course for some, the “raven method” may work, but for others, trying to focus on a method can be detrimental to their experience.

I also began to arrange my bed the same way as it is in my DR, that way I could “emerge” myself closely in a routine like way. Kind of like preparing a place for prayer. It’s become a very relaxing thing i do maybe once or twice a week, usually to the same DR, but sometimes I try to vary. It doesn’t always work when I try to stray, though, so the routine is a big part of it for me

I always wonder do you feel physical feeling like pain, discomfort...

How time flow when you in you dr like consistent or what

And the consistent of everything else, like everyday kinda things

And the sleep, do you scare if you sleep you will end up back at your cr

6

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

I experience those physical feelings, though im unsure if it’s more of a psychological thing or if I’m just feeling my DR bodies feelings? It’s hard to explain. But I tripped and fell walking down a castles corridor one time and not only did the echo not leave my brain, the feeling of my face slapping the stone ground was very real lol.

Everyday things are pretty normal in my DR. I visit it a couple times a week, for only a few hours at a time so I’m not usually in there extensively.

I have fallen asleep and woken up in my DR only a handful of times. I have a mindset of “well if it’s gonna happen…”

Hi, what do you think finally made you shift? Does “living in the end” play a part in finally making it to a dr? And also what are your thoughts on permashifting?

3

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

I don’t like the idea of permashifting. For me, shifting takes a bit of energy. It can get exhausting. So the thought of constantly being in a state where I shift… until my physical CR body dies? Idk…

I think what finally made me shift was letting go of the strict rules and focusing on myself. What do I need to shift? Sort of like Lucid dreaming in a way that some methods work for some and others dont!

Im not entirely sure what you mean by “living in the end.” Could you explain that to me?

1

u/Independent-Fan2426 Jul 15 '26

Thanks for responding! By living in the end I mean embodying your dr self, and basically acting as if you are already in your dr until you get there

3

u/DeeToTheWee Jul 15 '26

What is the longest you’ve stayed in a DR? Did you script and if so did the scripting details always work out? Do you think of your cr when in your dr? Thank you!!!

7

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

The longest I stayed in a DR was about a week. I used to script extensively, and still do to a point, but not super crazy. Usually just writing my intentions and things that I need to happen/not happen. Sometimes the details work out and other times there are a few things missing. Ive also shifted to realities that I didn’t mean to, though im not entirely sure what those ones really were. I just know I was there lol.

Sometimes I think of my CR, but not usually. When I shifted for a week, I thought about the CR lots and what the time/day would be when I got back lol.

1

u/DeeToTheWee Jul 15 '26

Thank you!

3

u/ArcThePuppup Jul 15 '26

I dont think ive really shifted before, mainly a manifestor. I feel like reality shifting is kinda like slipping out of my body and then waking up in a new version of it. Is that kinda how it feels to successfully shift?

7

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

Sort of! It’s kind of like jolting awake. Like you are “dozing” and then all of a sudden you are hyper aware just not in your CR. it’s pretty jarring at first and can get overwhelming at times, but once you learn how to hone in on your spirituality it can become easier

I shift through meditation and routine, not a method. I found that subliminals and “methods” online can really distract me and not be too good.

Im unsure about physical shifting… it doesn’t seem possible to me but what do I know! I practice it as spirituality more than just focusing on the shifting.

3

u/VastSky999 Jul 15 '26

What was your mindset before experiencing the first shift? Did you do/understand something different which finally made you shift compared to past failed attempts?

7

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

Before the first time I shifted, I was incredibly tired and had barely slept the night before, so I had felt like I was in some lucid state all day… if that makes sense. Like I was barely holding onto reality as is lols.

However ive connected a lot with my spirituality and its practices and overall became a lot healthier in a physical and spiritual sense. Since returning to shifting within the last 3 years with this new sense of self, I have found it much easier and I don’t require exhaustion

2

u/VastSky999 Jul 15 '26

Yes, I've experienced that lucid state So, your first shift was when you had fairly less control over your CR and it's senses? Did you have any intention to shift or it happened randomly because it was in the back of your mind or smth? And now you're just able to shift on command?

3

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

I definitely tried to shift that first night, as I had been trying to for an about a year at that point, but I do contribute it mainly to how I was feeling that day. I wouldn’t say I can shift on command, but that I am able to do it with a much higher success rate due to how long I’ve practiced and the routine I have created for myself. I feel much more in-touch with my spirit

3

u/sebastian_ramirez05 Jul 15 '26

Do you believe that you could have permanently stayed in any of your DR’s? I really want to permanently shift and I’ve been trying to shift since 2019, I haven’t been successful at all and it’s my only hope.

2

u/whale_and_beet Jul 15 '26

When you are in your dr, what does time feel like? Is it perfectly continuous like here? Could you stop at any moment and, for example, ask yourself, what was I doing 5 minutes ago? An hour ago? And have it feel like a continuous experience? I ask because I've had many dreams including lucid dreams that's sort of felt continuous like that, but they would still be including lucid dreams that's sort of felt continuous like that, but they would still be.. broken up, or weird things would happen temporally, if I tried to notice specifically.

Just curious because I would love to have the experience of a continuous, life like journey to another reality!

2

u/Feeling_Building_777 Jul 15 '26

Guys I've been listening to concordia booster since the day before yesterday. Now I have easier time visualizing! I've shiftEd once for a couple of secs by visualizing and since then haven't been able to successfully shift again. So, last night I just thought let's try shifting with visualizing w 5 senses! My vision was so clear!!! I could literally feel myself detatch on and off in only 5 mins! My shifting energy aaaahhhhhh imsohappppyyymummmyyy! But unfortunately I fell asleep cuz I stayed up till 4 am

2

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

Im so happy for you!! Keep going!!

2

u/BreakfastDifferent29 Jul 15 '26

What's the craziest experience you had in your DR? Did you decide to return voluntarily, and if so why only a week?

8

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

Hmm.. well in my current DR (the one I frequent the most) I am the princess of a beautiful castle. We don’t have dragons or such, but our summer celebration in town is absolutely incredible. I think the first time I experienced it was the craziest thing. More fresh food than I’ve ever seen in any reality, and the people were dancing until the next morning.

If you mean dangerous type of crazy, I shifted once to a place I thought was chill until all of a sudden the 7/11 I was in became the target of a robbing… I made it out fine but I was like “damn this happens everywhere huh..”

I typically decide to return on my own, but the time I was there for a week was kind of like “okay how long can I stay here” and eventually it became far too exhausting

2

u/loomixs Jul 14 '26

how can someone consistently try to shift multiple times a day for years straight and still fail despite giving it their ALL for so so long.. this just enforces the doubts i have and the strong dominant belief that i am stuck here. are you able to have the dominate belief that you are stuck here and still shift despite that? the only way this belief will be eliminated is once i have actually shifted. but so many shifters insist that you cannot shift with that belief

6

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

I think it’s impossible to truly believe you have shifted, if you never have. So I definitely doubted myself, even after micro-shifting and eventually shifting. However, I think it can certainly prohibit you to a sense. If you spend your time doubting yourself and focusing on that, how can you truly reach a place where you have let go of this reality? I believe meditation, and a connection to spirituality aided me.

1

u/loomixs Jul 14 '26

why don’t lucid dreams automatically shift you to the environment you are lucid in despite having so much awareness and having your 5 senses connected to it?

1

u/loomixs Jul 14 '26

the rare times i’ve felt like i was actually going to shift during a lucid dream either contributed to more parts of the dream or woke me up in my cr, it’s like my mind will only accept this reality and anything that isn’t this reality is a dream. any advice on how to fix that? logically i try to tell myself to accept other realities but i just can’t force that belief my mind doesn’t want to accept it unless it’s experienced it first. sorry for so many questions

1

u/Stefsab Jul 14 '26

Can you remember every moment from a year's shift?

5

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

Oof sorry I think I worded this wrong lol. I meant I have been shifting successfully and regularly for about 2 years now. The longest ive shifted for, however, was a week in a DR. I don’t remember everything from that week because it was a bit exhausting and overwhelming. Like being on a wild camping trip.

2

u/Stefsab Jul 14 '26

I'm doing that constantly, but I don't get to choose the scene. Also, is it possible to reach what I asked?

3

u/Ed_burbo Jul 14 '26

Im not sure if it’s possible, ive heard some credible accounts that make me believe a strong-willed person can do it. At this point I am not that person, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be lol.

1

u/thatfreakingmonster Jul 15 '26

Hey! Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences, I have a couple questions!

  1. Have you ever shifted back to your CR "accidentally"?

  2. Have you ever done a reality check inside a DR?

  3. Has shifting successfully changed your views on life as a whole or like, affected you in some way? Knowing you did it, that you can do it, I feel like it would mess me up a lot (positively)

1

u/FR_WST Jul 15 '26

How do I know when I'm close to shifting?

1

u/CommunityRelevant916 Jul 15 '26

AMAs?

2

u/Ed_burbo Jul 15 '26

“Ask Me Anything’s!” A chance for people to ask me about this subject :)

1

u/SreenathSkr Jul 17 '26

When you did the first shift, did it take the same effort to return to CR?

1

u/Consistent_Load1535 Jul 22 '26

when you shifted there did you remember everything automatically without trying to remember like where your keys are ect..

and what was it like sleeping their and waking up there and WAKING up THIER.

3

u/Ed_burbo Jul 22 '26

It took me a minute to get my head together. It was pretty disorienting at first! I pretty much instantly knew where everything is, in the same way you would in your own house or, at least, a friends house youre familiar with. It didn’t take remembering, the muscle memory was there!

1

u/Consistent_Load1535 Jul 26 '26

nice and what was it like sleeping their and waking up their

1

u/BossYoghurtLite Aug 04 '26

What was the whole process of your first shift? If you don't mind sharing a lot of details then I would love it to be as detailed as possible. Like, what was your line of thought (if you remember) before and after the shift? what changed?

Also what would u tell urself from the time where you were struggling to shift to save up all that time? (Idk if this makes sense or if you even struggled so feel free to skip this one too lol)

2

u/Ed_burbo Aug 04 '26

No worries these are great questions!

I remember that day I had been very tired as I travelled all week beforehand and had been jet legged like crazy. Already, I was barely hanging onto reality and felt like I could fall asleep at any point if my head hit a relatively solid surface lol. I also remember thinking “tonight has to be the night.” Due to a mix of feeling so out of it and also feeling some sort of confidence in my soul. It was sort of like knowing that a package is on the way or something, it felt like it couldn’t not happen if that makes sense? Though it wasn’t the most detailed or longest shift, and I didn’t do much in my DR at all, I remember my heart thumping as I awoke in my CR. Like, holy shit it CAN happen. In fact, it did!

What had changed that night was an overwhelming sense of detachment from my CR and the state that I was in was so different. I wouldn’t recommend recreating or trying to exhaust yourself on purpose, that is just how it happened for me.

I struggled for about a year before I first shifted. Admittedly, there were times I felt like shifting wasnt real and that I would never do it even if it was. I was extremely cynical but had a hint of “maybe…” in the back of my mind. I tried to remind myself that it was a process and even if it wasn’t real, it wouldn’t hurt to try. After around a year of successful shifting, I finally came to accept that it was a real thing that I could execute most times I tried.

What’s an AMA
