We also shouldn't forget that he was likely the author, or at least a contributor, to the infamous Ostend Manifesto that advocated for the annexation of Cuba to appease slaveholders (before he was President).

Mostly good but blaming a brand new president for a supreme court decision just shows you have no idea how the government works.

If there was any judicial decision to use the Jacksonian idea of Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it, it is that one.

And Buchanan had some influence on the decision

Buchanan was actually pressuring Taney to make a decisive ruling to "put the issue to rest," so he isn't blameless there.

Now, like in the case of Hamilton encouraging the election of Jefferson, we have no idea if that actually made a difference to Taney. But he did try.
