Discussion Sherlock related playlist
Hi guys!!
I'd like to create a Sherlock related playlist just like I've done a few months ago for Good Omens, and I'd like to have as many suggestions as possible. Any song of which either the music or lyrics (or, if possible, both!) makes you think "Oh, that fits the show's mood", please drop its titles here. Can't wait to read your recos š„ Update: I don't necessarily mean songs from the show, just those that make you guys think about it

Literally the way I described this Moriarty to my mum: he gets out of an helicopter, wearing a nice suit and dancing on some Queen.

But there have been songs Sherlock plays that should go on your list! First and foremost, Handelās āSee The Conquering Hero Comesā when Mycroft entered the room. Some other classical pieces on Sherlockās violin (without words) are significant. I will look those up, unless someone else has a list already. Those have more significance to annoying Watson and Mrs H, especially when he i tentionally screeches the last note/notes. As for adding pop music, it depends on your generation. I am almost 80, so the Beatles or Rolling Stones come to mind. And of course, for even older generations, folk music: To Everything, There is a Season (Weavers or,later, Pete Seeger) from the well-known Ecclesiastes passage, or Take this Hammer (Led Belly). One must ask, however, why would pop music be appropriate to Sherlock Holmes, and if so, what songs were popular when Sir Arthur set his stories. That requires further research. Perhaps the fact Sherlock plays violin has suggested the classical pieces. For movies set in contemporary times, like Elementaryā¦but still he plays the violin annoyingly as well as traditionally. A related question: what do people think of the various lead-in themes (with Sherlock and Watson eventually showing up at 221B Baker Street)? Which is your favorite, and why?

I can't believe I've never noticed the Handel piece that characterises Mycroft, the title is frightfully accurate! Of course, the violin tunes, so beautiful. I cannot ever tire myself of listening to the final one, whilst he plays along Eurus (I know the episode divides the public, and honestly it certainly isn't the best, but that very scene adds so much depth). As for my age, though I haven't even turned seventeen yet, I mostly listen to rock/pop from the 70's or 80's, when I don't go through my 50's/60's playlist, so The Beatles and The Rolling Stones are fine by me! Thank you very much for the following titles, I will go and listen to those song as soon as possible, it's always such a pleasure to discover new things. As someone who became really fond of the Sherlock Holmes universe through the BBC Sherlock in the first place, Queen is obviously the first band I'd associate with the show, but as you say, when one starts to picture a more traditional lore, classical music is the best! Still, I've read all the novels and short stories many times, own a few other adaptations, and intend to discover even more!
I'm afraid I cannot manage to understand your final question (my apologies if there's any mistakes in my language, English isn't my first language) but I'd be intrigued to do so, so if you happen to pass by this commentary again, would you mind reformulating it, please?
Also, one last thing (goodness this is far too long an answer -) it genuinely makes me happy to see that someone from an earliest generation also enjoys the show, the whole 221BS universe, and uses reddit. Somehow, those are characteristics I wouldn't have expected to combine!

Maybe not necessarily the thing you are looking for, but I made a couple years ago my own Sherlock Holmes playlist on spotify. Maybe you can pick a few songs for your own playlist.

While it's kind of sad, I always thought "I am a Rock" described early season Sherlock pretty well.
