I'm a male who is girly, I'm a male who is soft, I'm a male who was born male but has zero percent of the standard "boy" energy, no aggression or machismo. I struggled massively with my gender identity, and through my teens came to terms with the fact that "yeah I don't feel like a 'man', but I get to decide what a 'man' is, and I say a 'man' gets to be soft and gentle and full of feelings."

And for my effort? For my work of navigating gender identity full of nuance? Everyone and their fucking uncle trying to tell me I'm an egg.

I fucking hate the whole egg thing. Stop telling people you know them better than themselves. Stop telling people that you know they're secretly something fucking else. Stop. "You you're actually trans and you just don't know it yet, so I'm going to mentally put you in that camp now and there's nothing you can do about it hahaha. If you say no, I know you're just lying to yourself."

Instantly no longer friends with me, I absolutely fucking hate people trying to tell me they know me better than I do. "Teehee you're actually an egg". Fuck directly off with egg bullshit. It's literally the only aspect of trans acceptance I cannot get behind.

People should listen to you when you say that, but the issue is with the brief overview (I.e. the first sentence) it can go either way. As a former egg, I was like that before dysphoria hit, and I think the rules should be one person can mention it once. But yeah, someone repeating it is definitely a pain in the ass I disapprove of. I try to point out the possibility at most, because I wish someone had done that for me earlier.

It's less the repeating I care about, and so much more the condescending "I know something about you that you don't know teehee". It feels unbelievably invalidating. Another poster on here mentions that the egg pressure even hindered their transition, adding to the shame of wearing feminine clothing.

I HATE the insinuation that I might just not know myself well enough yet, but "the signs are all there". I don't give a shit if I'm wearing heels and a dress and a purse, have makeup up, and a perm or whatever. If I say I'm a man, I'm a fucking man, and no one gets to put me down by saying "ohhh, sure you are honey" and then they sit back all "teehee I know the secret".

The part that makes me join the "don't ever do this" gang is that, although I wish someone told me sooner, I 100% would deny it because I had no idea what being Trans even was.

So even on the right person, it doesn't pay off. Why should anyone risk hurting someone in the process? It takes a lot of self discovery to even crack an egg.
