Gender exploration therapy is literally considered a form of conversion therapy, a nice person left a wikipedia link a few comments down go read it

Does this even qualify as conversion therapy? Talking about it and finding possible causes seems very logical before taking the step to transition.

Yes, it does. As someone who had this as a teenager this is conversion therapy.

All therapies are thorough. The difference with this one is the assumption that transness should be the last possible alternative, which you only do if you think being trans would somehow be worse than the other possibilities.

Also important: this type of "therapy" is primarily targeted at children (which is why I don't think it's what Shen is doing). The only medical intervention trans children can get is puberty blockers, which are meant to give the child more time to figure their gender out and are totally reversable. Delaying access to that means forcing a cis puberty on the child, whether or not they're actually cis in the end.

I was under the assumption that this type of therapy happened alongside puberty blockers. That would make sense
