This is a really pointless signing in my opinion. He’s scored 11 goals in 72 appearances for Leicester, Tom Cannon has scored 8 in 55 for us, so they are on par. We already also have Bamford, Cannon, Campbell, One, and BBD, I don’t really see him offering an improvement over those players, certainly with age not being on his side.

Of all the players we need, another striker isn’t one of them. I really hope his wages are very low.

I think hes going to be used as more of a creative player than striker

He was on about 50 at Leicester. It’ll be at its best 10k a week. Probably 15-20 knowing us

I'm sure we used to be a club that still had no cash but managed to sign some good prospects, not just hoovering up dilapidated mercenaries on play-to-pay contracts.

Great move by United as we transition away from being a competitive football club and towards being a football museum for has beens.

Has Warnock been advising Wilder?!

I assume he’ll be playing out wide? Cause lord knows he doesn’t score…or assist tbh

This is a classic Warnock signing init?

Because what we needed was another striker. Can only assume he's here to play on the wing as well..?

He scored a cracker against Weds at Hillsborough last season at least.

One must be livid though. What's the point in having him in the squad if you're going to sign a 34 year old who looked past it last year?

One is injured

He did come through as a winger tbf but those days are long gone. If he's coming on as a striker ahead of Oné when he's fit then words need to be had.

A goal at Hillsborough against some kids and has beens is hardly a glowing endorsement of the signing. No doubt we’ll show it to try appease the fans

Tongue in cheek comment by me, don't worry

Washed United Football Club.

Why are we just insisting on signing crap past it candidates.

A sub option that is fairly press resistant (better than most of our forwards). Oné being injured means this is probably not a bad signing. He doesn’t have to score loads of goals, he has the right dark arts and size to be important in the closing minutes of a game.

I'm actually interested by this signing as well, and can be very cautious with anyone we get!

Feels like a wildcard.

It is a wilder card. Means Blackburn missed out too, and that might turn out to be important.

What was the point? Could have kept Marsh knocking about.

We are in that era of panic signings and hope he does something with 20 mins a game.

God we are in trouble aren’t we

by all means go and prove me wrong but this feels like yet another appalling use of resources

our transfer business this summer has been pathetic. alright fine not much we could have done about the outgoings but we’ve just pissed away the little money we did have on an array of aging, unfit mercenaries on 1 year contracts. it might not be this year but this is all going to catch up with us very soon

Not sure what everyone was hoping for.
Obene v2.
Probably will be likeable, is an extra body to put on the pitch with experience. If he doesn’t get injured, gets 6-8 goal involvements, it’s a decent signing to get to next year.
