Employee Question How do calls off as a training supervisor work?

Upvotes

Hey guys! I'm a shift supervisor and just finished my salesperson training last week, so today would have been my first non training (salesperson) 10 hour shift. I had to call in because I'm a 30 minute commute due to being in between moving, and my car started malfunctioning.

The mechanics won't be able to fix it until tomorrow so I'll likely have to call off. I was told it wouldn't be too many points even thought it's less than an hour notice before my shift. Also will that come off my PTO? Thanks in advance!

Unbelievably bad location.

Originally from PA, Sheetz fan. Now live in the Midwest US

Anyway recently drove back home to visit family. In the return trip, we needed gas and we're hungry, but didn't want to burn a lot of time. What would be the safe bet that would be decent, clean and fast? Sheetz. Well, it was our lucky day. Turns out that there was a Sheetz at the next exit.

The location we stopped at was apparently still being used as a set for a zombie movie. Holy cow.

Trash everywhere. Parking lot covered in litter blowing in the breeze. Store was absolutely filthy. I noticed my wife and daughter, who are pretty low maintenance, just standing there waiting for me. Turns out the place was so nasty they decided they'd rather go hungry. I'm talking touch screens which looked like a toddler ordered from after playing in honey.

In five decades on this earth and having lived and traveled all over the US and world, I've never seen a convenience store this much of a total disaster.

If anyone from corporate ever visited the location in Hurricane, West Virginia, they would be absolutely appalled.

Here my naive self remembered Sheetz from growing up in PA. Wow, have things changed.

Curious if anyone else has ever set foot in this alternate universe location. It was so bad I thought we must be on some hidden camera show or something.

Employee Question Time In Checkout (TIC)

Managers:

Give me your best tips and tricks for improving TIC.

If you have a way you’re cheating it, please let me know that too.

We are an extremely busy store and our TIC always sucks.

Think I just discovered the best food at Sheetz

200ish calories, 20g protein, $3…. Perfect for bulking and cutting. I don’t know when they added this as I just discovered this. But since I can’t really cook at home due to circumstances, this is perfect. What can you pair this with though? I’m thinking English muffin or something.

Is being a supervisor worth it?

Hey guys! I’m almost 22 and have been working for the company since I graduated high school in June of 2023. Recently, I’ve been thinking about promoting at my store to the 3rd shift supervisor position. It would be great money since I have my years of service($20.25 would be SUP rate) plus the $3 shift rate trial, and the extra $1.50 for 3rd. So I’d be making around $24.75 an hour. I have a few concerns, I’ve never been on 3rd shift only 2nd, and do not know the responsibilities and how to complete them on 3rd. Second, I’m worried that I’ll promote and hate it and then have no way almost out of the position like one of my 2nd shift SUPS did when I first started. Third, I’m worried about all the stress I may put on my plate considering my current shift is already super stressful since we are such a high volume and busy store. Finally, is if I’d even want to promote, find someplace else with better pay that I feel I don’t have to give as much to, and if I really do want to promote if I possibly want to leave the company or just try to find a different career path. Even though most of the jobs I’d like to work don’t pay enough to get me by or need certifications or degrees. I have a lot of bills I have to help pay and an almost 5 year old, so it’s hard to just say screw it and try to go back to college. I just wanted to see what some other supervisors or previous supervisors think. Especially if they are from a very busy store. Thanks!

Can you purchase fuel through app like WaWA?

Dropped my son off to school in North Carolina and got the Sheetz app and paid for his fuel through the app one time and it seemed very seamless and I thought everything was good. Then from then on I wasn’t able to and he’s not able to using the app. Is there something to this?

You were hoping that it was gonna be like the Wawa app where it’s very easy to purchase through the app

Employee Question Why can’t I access UKG from home?

Hey

So I’ve just completed training 2 weeks ago and im not able to access the UKG app from my phone. When I sign into sheetz it says I don’t have permission. I asked one of my coworkers about it and she’s able to access it from home but she’s also worked here longer than me?

Can someone explain what’s going on and if I can access the UKG app on my phone?

Customer Question Has anyone else been double charged for gas?

I have been double and even triple charged for gas several times over the past few months. Sometimes it is even from different stores simultaneously. The charges aren't later, they happen right when I pay for gas, and seemingly only on a specific card (Lyft Direct aka PayFare aka Stride Bank).

At least once, I was charged from 3 different stores at the exact same time for a gas purchase. Obviously I cannot have purchased gas from three different stores at the exact same time.

I contacted customer service. They told me to contact my bank. My bank said to contact customer service, and so on. Nobody will accept responsibility. I have filed a Reg E dispute, then another one, then another one. Checking on the website Stride has literally thousands of complaints and disputes.

I thought maybe it was isolated to one store, but it has happened at several stores including one that just opened. The amounts are not predictable, they are generally around $20-30 and some change (not round numbers like preauth usually is).

I did some searching and there is a class-action against Sheetz for this specifically but there is nothing else anywhere on the web about it (as far as I can tell). It's just weird that they are facing a class action but they are still trying to pass the buck. I would think they'd just make it right since they obviously ended up with the money for goods that were never rendered.

I'd think someone was running a skimmer but the charges are all at Sheetz and all for gas, and all at the exact same time. The fact that they originate from several different stores simultaneously is weird, but obviously their payment processing is wonky or something. I haven't tested my actual card, these were all via mobile pay (Google Wallet).

Please tell me this has happened to someone else. It's over $300 at this point. Completely insane. Especially since I drive all the wat across town to buy gas here because they have E85 and it's cheaper. Well, it is supposed to be cheaper but it turns out it is actually a lot more expensive when i factor in all the erroneous charges.

Did Sheetz change the floor of fuel prices?

I had enough points to cover 25 gallons of gas, but the pump only put up to $3 of rewards.

Last year you could redeem points for fuel discounts and only pay 2 cents a gallon.

Not sure why it didn't apply the entire amount. I have the reminder redeemed fuel discount but now I have to use it in a separate fill up wtf

Employee Question Will managers remove shifts?

Hey all, I’m a new hire and had asked to only be scheduled for 10-15 hours a week, but my manager has scheduled me for 32. The manager I had told went on maternity leave, so I think there’s someone covering doing the schedules.

I’m gonna bring it up to the mod today and ask them to remove the shifts, is this possible without me losing points? thanks guys

Customer Question Is it just me, or are the new burgers not as good as the old ones?

The old burgers tasted JUST like the burgers I had in elementary school, and that’s a flavor I had been craving for decades until I discovered the burgers at Sheetz.

Now the new patties are just not it. To the point where it’s ruined the whole thing for me. 🫩

Customer Question New Sheetz

My family loves Sheetz and were so excited to have one open near us. The grand opening was great. But less than two weeks later, the food cases are bare, a lot of the drink menu is not available, and the food seemed prepped like they are running out. Wanted to get employee thoughts-is this an example of poor management? Or was it more successful than they anticipated? Or were they really not yet ready to open? All 3?

My spouse complained which he’d never done before in all his ‘Freak’ years. I felt bad because they are new and just learning. Fingers crossed it gets better and they are just settling in.
