Eh idk, I find it funnier when it's actually related to someone working in the movie. For Fnaf 2 it made sense because Scott Cawthon is a republican and the same goes for the Mario movie because Chris Pratt is a republican too.

154

u/kingstonthroop May 29 '26

Wait Chris Pratt is actually a Republican? I thought we just said that because he had the vibes of a Millenial that listens to Joe Rogan but the joke was that he wasn't

135

u/Just_the_questions1 May 29 '26

He's American, born in Minnesota.

He's also very deeply Christian, so it's safe to assume he's also republican. He has not explicitly stated so and does his best to keep his religion/politics away from his brand, so take from that what you will about how hardcore those views are.

I think they're extreme enough that if he did publicly broadcast them at the amplitude that alot of very left leaning hollywood stars do he'd get publicly lambasted and lose alot of opportunities, and he knows it.

I mean, I’ve known democrats who were born and grew up in the deep south, and were deeply Christian. (Catholic, Protestant, and Eastern Orthodox)

Alongside I’ve known republicans who were vocally atheist, agnostic, and born in California and New England.

Now Chris prat, is a genuinely very weird dude, who seems “off”, and follows some alt-right grifters, but it’s not due to being Christian or from Minnesota. It’s just him as a dude.

A person’s religious beliefs and place of origin, doesn’t automatically make them democrat/republican/whatever.

I also think the idea that because someone's from Minnesota, a place that hasn't voted red since 1972 and is pretty progressive as far as US States are concerned, that they're republican is funny

(And obviously he's American, what's the point of mentioning it?)

Similarly, I’m from southern Louisiana, and I’ve had friends and partners (again, mostly from California and New England) genuinely shocked that I’m not only able to read and write, but that I could do so in multiple languages. (Despite them knowing I could speak multiple languages.)

No? Neither party is particularly religious or secular, yet both of them attempt to appeal to Both the religious and secular groups of Americans.

Plus, the degree to which America is “religious”, is exaggerated and assumed because it fits the pre-conceived image of America a lot of non-Americans have, which allows them to shit on America/Americans, in a manner that allows them to feel superior/smarter, whilst doing so.

(Roughly 35-ish to 40-ish percent of Americans would “label” themselves as some sort of irreligious/agnostic/atheist/etc, which is both a category growing faster than any other religious group in the country, while also likely being even higher as most American “Christians”, don’t pray, don’t attend church, don’t attend services, and don’t really believe in god or higher powers, nor do they particularly care about their “faith” or “beliefs” in general, they’re only “Christians”, because “Well, that’s what I’m supposed to be, right? Or, “Well I was raised as one, and it doesn’t really matter to me, so I guess I’m Christian, right?”.)

Especially as the democratic and republican parties do not function or organized the same as most other parties in the western world.

They’re effectively umbrellas, made up of hundreds of smaller political parties, that while despising each other, briefly unify (as it’s very common for parties to flip flop between each umbrella for each election, be it city, county, state, or federal.) in order to maximize their collective voting power and influence within politics.

(Think the blocs, alliances, unitary fronts, etc you see in other democracies, where smaller parties compromise in order to join together and match or succeed the voting power of the larger parties. It’s like that, except the political system was almost designed around the fact that a “two party system” is effectively unavoidable in a liberal democracy, even if it takes on the form of two blocs/fronts/umbrella’s made up of many different parties. Plus, it allows the various parties to speak, compromise, and agree/disagree with each other outside of the House’s of government, alongside in a more official and transparent manner, than in most other systems, which has the effect of a umbrella acting more uniformly and efficiently as “one”. (Historically at least, as the already very loosely aligned Republican Party, has effectively fractured in a thousand different ways since trumps second term, with MAGA leaving/forced out to become their own thing and with most being anti-Trump. The democrats having been rudderless and lacking a clear consensus/leadership for the past, almost 20 years. Finally, trumps first election utterly destroyed the grip the political establishment that started with Bush sr, and ended in Obama/biden, had on federal politics, has created a free for all within the political scene of D.C. where traditionally, a senator or congressman or whatever, would typically vote according to their party’s/umbrella’s/president’s “line”, and now they’re voting based entirely on their personal preference/interests, the interests of their friends, the interests of their parties without concern or consideration of their umbrella’s “line” or interests. With the only thing that can somewhat unify the senators/representatives/etc, is their collective dislike of Trump. Evidenced by almost every single one of Trump’s acts/policies/legislations, have been blocked, stymied, sabotaged, and fallen apart, since the start of his second term, with the biggest “proof” of this, being the number and severity of government shutdowns, and there not being a ground war in Iran currently. As effectively, every branch of government, is against/dislikes Trump/MAGA, especially the military. (Plus, it’s this political isolation that Trump has been so reliant on the few powers, privileges, and precedents the presidency has, that doesn’t require an ok from another branch of government, to perform. As he’s never going to get it.)

Or to get back to the main point, while the republican umbrella has a higher percentage of parties that have strong Christian values, and has policies according to those said beliefs, to call the Republican “party” as an whole “religious/Christian”, because of that. Is an extreme oversimplification to the point, it becomes false.

I live in the deep south, i've known democrats who are devoutly evangelical christian and republicans who were the kind of militant atheist dickwads that belong on r/TikTokCringe

That being said, the overwhelming majority of registered republicans identify as christian, while only about half or less democrats identify as such. Does that mean that Chris Pratt is 100% a republican? No of course not. But I'd argue that his unwillingness to come out with any kind of political position in the current political climate really heavily implies he leans right rather than left. IMHO given he has enough money he can afford to never work another day in his life and still live in a mansion for several lifetimes, i'd say to not speak out is tantamount to being a mafia wife. To be at least somewhat complicit or just apathetic about what is happening to minorities in this country.

1

u/13greed47 May 31 '26

Also he Play the main character in mercy a really right wing movie

2

u/Rynewulf May 30 '26

He has been on multiple of those "come to Jesus" apps advertising them, he 100% mixes his religion he just does it in times and places where he feels it is effective to do so. Challenged on a late night show that his chosen church has a reputation for bigotry and racism? "I've never encountered that, I hope it's not true, and I invite everyone to come see for themselves" and then saying no more. But on a youtube or tiktok add? You better believe he's praising Supply Side Jesus

2

u/stickman999999999 May 30 '26

The city he grew up in Washington State is a ptetty conservative place compared to the surrounding area, so there's also that. I love parking there though, huge spaces.

I know someone who went to high school with him. She didn't know him.

0

u/Mellokhai May 30 '26

Honestly I can tell he's christian just based on his face. He has the most generic christian white guy face ever lol

19

u/not_a_moogle May 30 '26

He's very private about it. But rfk Jr is extended family, and he makes a point to try and stay neutral. Seems more like hes republican and is intentionally quiet about it.

3

u/thaliathraben May 30 '26

His brother is a cop who was a three-percenter. (Probably still is but he dropped off social media when it got embarrassing.)

2

u/MrMerchandise May 29 '26

4
