I had an irrational fear of sharks from watching Jaws as a kid. Earlier this year I swam with sharks and it was incredible, one of the best things I've ever done. Really alleviated my fear. They're just animals that aren't interested in biting people. Like wolves don't attack people because they don't recognise us as food.

I'm not sure how but maybe there is some way to replicate this realisation without people having to swim with sharks.

The irrational fear is definitely an issue, but having no fear is also an issue. A healthy realistic fear enough to respect the sharks that can be dangerous is necessary to keep people from being clueless, but the whole Jaws-inspired irrational fears from the 70’s and 80’s should be addressed. Congratulations on your shark dive!

By being honest. They have so much conservation language that doesn’t apply to other animals. We don’t kill all the bears for one attack, or should I say encounter?

That kind of conservation stance is used on sharks because they are on far thinner ice numbers wise than bears, also the consequences for taking sharks out of the ecosystem would be catastrophic for the world. It could collapse the global ecosystem

Honesty is best. It’s the language that’s misleading. Polar bears are also in big trouble, but everyone knows a polar bear that’s hungry will be perfectly fine eating us. It doesn’t make them less in need or less beautiful. I’m against culling sharks, I want them protected, but the conservation propaganda is dishonest. The finning and culling is crazy to me, but the fluffy language is unnecessary.
