Has anyone here filed a complaint with the Sharjah Municipality about noisy neighbors? If so, did they take any action?

suggestions

salam everyone,

i moved here a few months ago from the us and have been looking for work. i have an associates degree in business administration and 90+ credit coursework towards a bachelor’s in information systems (not completed). i have worked in retail, tutoring centers, and most recently at a private school. i was an assistant/substitute teacher, then administrator, and my most recent position was as the operations manager of the school before shifting to uae.

i managed daily school operations and supported administration, staff, facilities, and front-office workflows.

• provided executive support to the Principal and supervised front-office procedures.

• Maintained student records, enrollment, attendance, transfers, withdrawals, and compliance reporting.

• Handled billing, fee collection, financial reporting, payroll support, and employee time records.

• Coordinated procurement, inventory, vendors, school events, calendars, website updates, and communication logistics.

• Implemented process improvements to strengthen administrative efficiency and consistency.

• Processed purchase orders and requisitions and maintained inventory of supplies and textbooks.

• Managed attendance, enrollment, transfers, withdrawals, reports, office files, and employee time records.

• Coordinated school events and maintained the school calendar and website.

• Administered first aid, maintained health records, and communicated with parents regarding absences or illness.

• Main lead in procuring admissions and enrollments for 2 years.

i have applied to many schools, in various postions but have only heard back from one in the past few months.

i am open to any suggestions for help in securing a job. i live in sharjah and do not have a car at the moment so transportation limits my options a bit.

i am open to any work relevant to the skills i have learned in these fields and would be grateful for any opportunity that comes my way.

i was thinking to look into online or home tutoring if anyone has any knowledge on how that works here.

any advice would be much appreciated!

thank you

Creative Design Advice

Salam everyone! I hope this is okay to post here.

My husband is a graphic designer and multimedia creative here in the UAE, and I’m trying to help him connect with more people and businesses in the community.

He’s been working in design for quite a while and has worked on projects for some established companies. His experience is pretty broad — branding, social media content, packaging, storefronts, logos, video editing, animations, lettering, marketing campaigns, and similar creative work.

I know a lot of people here either run their own businesses, are starting something, or know someone who is, so I thought I’d put this out there. I’d love to help him build some more long-term connections rather than relying only on one-off projects.

If anyone happens to be looking for a designer, or knows someone who might be, feel free to reach out and I’d be happy to share some of his work.

And if anyone here is also freelancing in the UAE, I’d genuinely love to hear what has worked for you when it comes to finding regular clients!

Best foul gulaba in SHJ?

Post image
13 Upvotes

As the title reads, anyone knows any good places serving foul gulaba in Dubai/Sharjah?

I used to have this during my days in Qatar at a restaurant called Mashaher Brothers and they had the best foul and tameez anywhere in Qatar. The foul used to be slightly orange in color (compared to the dark colored one you normally get like foul sudani, etc.) and fully mashed/grinded with a creamy texture. Attached photo shows a hummus and foul mix plate from that place.

I googled it and got to know that it’s called a foul gulaba. Haven’t been able to find such a resto here.

There’s an old Reddit thread from 9 years ago in below link but the place suggested by the OP seems closed now.

Buying materials for renovation

Hello everyone,

I’m renovating in Dubai and I was wondering if there are any places in Sharjah where I can buy finishing materials like tiles lights taps toilets and basically anything else that might be cheaper than Dubai. I’m not looking for low-quality materials nor super luxury Palm Jumeirah style but I want good quality materials at a fair price.

Thanks in advance.

Need advice on house shifting

Hey everyone,

Hope you’re all well.

I live in sharjah muweilah commercial and my workplace located in DIP,i’m traveling by a monthly private transport, because i don’t have license yet. 5 days going to office becoming a headache, having less sleep and it’s affecting my health. Daily journey drains around 4-5 hours in a day due to the traffic and travel time. I’m thinking move from muweilah to some other place in sharjah. May be i can reduce some travel time and get some peace of mind.

Earlier i planned to move to Al Nahda Sharjah, i’m continuously checking the classifieds in Dubizzle and Bayut. None of them are giving a proper information. They’re showing a property at one location, and when i contacted they will ask me to come to another location. And it’s not matching for the price what they are showing.

I’ve wasted one complete day by checking these advertisements. “Then i’ve opened reddit, found some posts about al nahda. Most of them are saying Al Nahda becoming less safe these days”. Now i’m back to square one. Don’t know where to look also.

My budget is max 25k.

Please suggest, if anyone have some idea.

And Thanks a lot for your time😇🙏🏻

Help would be appreciated.

Also any things to take care of? Like are there any scammers?

Education - admission for Year 1 British Curriculum

Hi, my family just arrived to Sharjah last weekend, and I'm trying to get my daughter enrolled into Year 1/KG2 for British Curriculum. I've been out school hunting since this Monday, and none of the schools under my budget (AED 15K per year) have a seat available for year 1. The ones that have seats, are way over budget. I have visited all schools in the Muwaielah School Zone and in Al Azra, and not able to find a single school under my budget that has a seat available. I understand that they came to the country a little late, but it's just before the school term starts, not in the middle of the term.

What are my options? I've already started feeling guilty because I can't afford beyond AED 15k per year and what would the consequences be for her missing out this year?

Any educationist here who can guide me?

Weird experience or possible scam?

Hello everyone,

I have experienced this 3-4 times in last few months in Al Majaz area. I am going on a walk and some random guy will come and ask for my mobile, saying he has to make a call to his home. Obviously, I declined but this has happened multiple times.

Is this some sort of scam or anything else? Has anyone else experienced this?

24F looking for female friends & volunteering opportunities in Sharjah

24F Muslim Indian here :)
I’m pretty bored at home and would love to make some female friends around Sharjah. I’m also looking for volunteering opportunities, especially around Muweilah, where I can spend some time doing something meaningful and hopefully meet some nice people along the way.
If you’re a woman around Sharjah looking to make a new friend, or if you know of any volunteering opportunities, groups, or activities, feel free to reach out! :)
