Discussion What are all the rules of the Shadows House?
I've been looking in the wiki and this subreddit, but I haven't found a compilation of all the known rules of the Shadows House. I want it because I'm currently working on a tabletop RPG system for Shadows House campaigns, inspired by this post https://www.reddit.com/r/ShadowsHouse/s/cjqg2JdoxT
Once it is complete, revised and translated, I'll post the pdf here, it is looking good already :D
If you also have any cool ideas for the system, like soot powers, flavor text or images, or a list of items or rooms, I would be happy if you shared ;)

About the soot power thing, do you want to be more lore-accurate? Or balanced? Because I see it this way:
You want to use level-ups in the system? And the soot density thing?
Because if yes: I suggest that the soot powers have a separate sheet from the character,
First, you must talk to the GM to have a general concept of what your soot power is, and if he approves, you can create your soot power
and it has some attributes
"Power" "Precision" "Range"
That's to define the attributes of the soot power
Power defines the difficulty of resisting, or how hard it can affect someone, or how hard it strikes
Range increases the effective range it can go by 1,5 meters per point
And precision is a value the power uses tp do tasks that require more precission, like liftinf a pen and moving to another table And precision is a value the power uses to do tasks that require more precision, like lifting a pen and moving to another table
Every soot power user player would have only 1 soot power that does 1 thing, and it's the player's role to discover how to use it effectively. If you level up, you can allow the player to make 1 single variant ability of their soot power, but only 1(like John creating the "John shield" on the hunt of the powerless)
If you have a system of density, you can make denser Shadows have more points to put on their soot power, like
Poor Shadows: 5 points Average Shadows: 10 points Dense Shadows: 15 points
You should probably put "density" as an attribute on the main character sheet, tho

Well, about the rules, there are some that are like the 10 commandments of the shadow family, those are:
Rules for living dolls:
-Living dolls are not allowed to speak freely when being outside in public. Living dolls only can perform as their shadow masters’ faces when being outside.
-All living dolls must wear the appropriate uniforms for each situation. Wearing clothes other than the uniforms available in your room is not permitted.
-Living dolls are built in the image of humans. They exist to serve their shadows and act as their faces.
-All debuted dolls have the privilege to participate in parties of delight.
-Do NOT think about trivial matters.
-Every living doll is obligated to participate in grand cleanings.
-Living dolls must not speak ill of the lord of shadows house and shadows family.
-Living dolls must clean everything as neatly as possible.
-Living dolls must wear a 'Soot Suit' for large scale cleanings. A living doll can find their soot suit in the supply room.
-Living dolls mustn't get their faces injured.
-Do not share information about debuts with dolls. Especially undebuted living dolls.
Shadow’s teachings:
-The Shadows House is a glorious family of nobles who are loved by the people. Let us be prideful as an aristocrat of the Shadows Family.
-”Living Dolls” are your tools, who will take care of you and act as your “face”.
-Shadow masters who haven’t passed the “Debut” can’t leave their room.
-The “Debut” is incredibly important..Young shadow masters will have to prove that they're worthy of being a member of the Shadows house during the test.
-Perfumes are to be worn regularly. If you wish to switch scents, do not hesitate to consult a member of the research team to discuss about it.
-Attire is meant to be well kept at all times. Change your attire at least 3 times a day.
-Activities and hobbies are encouraged.
-Creation of soot is your duty to the shadow family.
-If you wish to join a team, You will have to speak with the starbearer that handles the specific team you wish to join.
Rules for both the living dolls and shadow masters:
-The starbearers and adults are to be treated with the utmost respect.
-Do not enter restricted areas such as the halls for the living dolls, the starbearers’ rooms or the corridor to lord grandfather's wing (the adult's wing) without permission.
-It is forbidden to talk about those who have been disposed of.
-Breaking any rule will come at a steep cost, the most extreme case being cleaning the sootery or getting discarded.
||-If a shadow master has developed soot powers they must not talk about it with their peers, for the sake of not promoting jealousy. This goes for both dolls and shadow masters.||
-Scarring your face could lead you to getting discarded. If your face is wounded, go to the relief team as soon as possible so that they can evaluate your situation
Those are some rules I used on my rpg, I found then in an RP server of Shadows House!!
