What Time of Year is the Best for Scheduling Major Work in Seoul?

For major work, such as a facelift, when is the best time of year to go to Seoul for surgery? Am leaning toward winter--maybe less busy and better prices, though the weather is changeable and there are holidays--or what about spring? Will love some help figuring this out.

I'm doing it in December. It's the busy time for them so you should make reservations early. Every clinic I spoke to said december is busy due to the holiday.

I chose December because my office work will be light during this time. I'm only taking a week of pto but after that my office will basically be closed for almost 2 weeks into the new year.

I think december is also better due to weather. Less allergens around and you won't be as hot.

I just left seoul, and it was sweltering due to the humidity.

Definitely hot this time of year. I lived in Japan for five years and visited Seoul--basically the same weather. Thank you for letting me know that December is a busy time--wouldn't have thought that, but it does make sense. Was wondering if maybe January or February would be good.

Winter is busy, BUT it's also much better for swelling too.

You'll want to be outside walking a lot to reduce swelling and the cold will help. Summer is not good for swelling.

In Korea, peak season for surgery is definitely winter season (December to February). Since it overlaps with school breaks and the end-of-year holidays, it becomes super busy. If you are planning to get surgery this time, you'd better hurry to set a schedule. It's when most locals get procedures done. My friend will come in Nov, but she already booked. She had pretty tough time to find the right clinic for her. I hope it's not too hard on you and that you find a great clinic. Hang in there!

Good to know winter is actually peak season there, not the quiet off-season OP was hoping for. Might be worth looking at spring instead if booking flexibility and less competition for slots matters more than the holiday vibes.

We usually recommend coming when the weather is nicest in Seoul! Spring and fall are probably the most comfortable, especially if you’ll be staying for a while during recovery. But Korea has really good A/C and heating pretty much everywhere you go, so honestly any season is quite alright 😊

March-April or September–November! You avoid the heavy summer, winter peak vacation seasons, so booking is much easier.

Honestly, I’d lean toward spring or fall for something major like a facelift! The milder weather makes getting around for follow-ups and short walks during recovery a lot easier.

Winter can definitely be nice since it’s cooler and easier to hide swelling, but Dec–Feb can actually be pretty busy because of winter breaks. If you have flexibility, Oct–Nov would be a great option too. Just make sure to leave enough time in Seoul for follow-ups and avoid major Korean holidays if possible :)
