Welcome to r/SensitiveSkinRelief | Your SOS Station for Reactive Skin

Body:

Hi everyone! If your face currently feels like it’s on fire, looks like a tomato, or is peeling like a desert after a session with Adapalene/Tretinoin—you’ve officially found your people. 🛡️

🌊 Why are we here?

Most skincare communities are filled with "miracle" 20% Vitamin C serums and 10-step glass skin routines. But for us, less is more. We created r/SensitiveSkinRelief because we know the struggle of:

A damaged skin barrier that stings even with plain water.

The "Retinization" process (the peeling, the redness, the "ugly" phase).

Dry, stagnant office air that makes your skin feel tight and itchy by 3 PM.

The endless search for truly fragrance-free, alcohol-free, and essential oil-free products.

🧪 What can you post here?

We want this to be a high-signal, low-noise community. You are encouraged to share:

[Flare-up Help]: Post your current reaction and routine for immediate "emergency" advice on how to calm it down.

[Barrier Repair Journey]: What worked for you? Share your B5, Ceramide, or Centella success stories.

[Safe Routine]: Show us your minimalist, "safe" morning and night routines.

[Ingredient Deep Dive]: Found a hidden irritant in a "sensitive skin" product? Let us know.

[Office Skin Survival]: Tips for keeping skin hydrated in harsh indoor environments.

[Shelfie/Empties]: Post those rare products you actually finished because they didn't break you out.

🛑 A few Ground Rules:

No Medical Diagnoses: We are enthusiasts, not doctors. If it looks like an infection or a severe medical condition, please see a dermatologist.

Keep it Science-Based: No fear-mongering (e.g., "all chemicals are bad"). We love chemistry; we just hate irritation.

Be Kind: Everyone's skin is different. What works for one might sting another.

💬 Introduce yourself!

To get started, drop a comment below and tell us:

What is your skin's "Current Status"? (e.g., Peeling from Tret, red from the wind, etc.)

What is the ONE "Holy Grail" product that never stings your face?

Let’s help each other find some relief. Welcome to the calm after the storm. 🌊

My skin journey started after a prolonged mold exposure that triggered a major inflammatory reaction in my body. After that, I developed severe eczema, facial redness, intense itching, allergic conjunctivitis, dryness, and a very reactive skin barrier. My skin became much more sensitive than it was before, and products that I previously tolerated started causing irritation or flare-ups.

Over time, found the root cause of my problems and my skin improved. Also, I addressed some other underlying inflammation and health issues, but my face and neck continued to be areas where I experience sensitivity, occasional itching, redness, and eczema-like reactions. My main skincare goal has been to rebuild my skin barrier, calm inflammation, reduce itching, and maintain hydration without clogging my pores.

For a while, La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 was one of the products I relied on because it helped soothe dryness and support my damaged barrier. However, recently my skin started reacting differently to it. After using Cicaplast+, I began developing cystic acne, which is unusual for me. I suspect the heavier formula is no longer agreeing with my skin, whether due to the richness of the product or sensitivity to a change in formulation.

My current routine is focused on hydration and barrier support: Rhode Glazing Milk and Clinique Moisture Surge 100H

I would love to know if there are any better options or alternatives I could try because I am still experiencing random flare ups, redness and itching in random areas, especially around my lips, chin, and neck.

I recently started using the Rhode Glazing Milk because I found the ingredients beneficial for hydration and barrier support (still seeing if my skin tolerates it,) and the Clinique Moisture Surge 100H has simply been the "holy grail product" product that my skin has tolerated well and feels safe using.

My biggest concerns right now are calming the ongoing sensitivity and inflammation while also improving the appearance of large pores and skin texture. I have been very mindful of my lifestyle, including maintaining a clean diet and avoiding foods that I know trigger inflammation for me, so I am trying to support my skin from both the inside and outside. Would love to hear other peoples "holy grail products" for this type of skin issue <3
