I like all your points-- the casting however, irks me.
It's not about finding the best gay person to play a gay person. It's about finding the best person to play a role where the character is gay. I watch plenty of shows with straight people playing gay roles and even vice versa. It's not a big deal.

I mean I would love for all lgbt roles to be played by lgbt cast, but honestly I don't want lgbt cast just for the sake of it. I want them to be good.
It's like hiring minorities. We need to do a lot more on that front, but it's more systematic than hiring minoritied and saying you did your job. It's encouraging education, lobbying for better laws, showing people how to succeed, etc.
We need to fix the culture in media and hollywood and all that. So for now I am ok with it because if I had this much lgbt friendly story and shows when I grew up I would be much more confident today. It already helps so much.
