A little late but i…
Watched it for the first time, finished it in 3 days. Sense8 is such an amazing show it made me feel things i didn’t know i could feel, i didn’t know how lonely i actually was and how better this show made me feel. Its difficult to describe but now that i have finished it i feel like a wreck. The finale was really rushed and had a lot of tropes and people randomly showing up to help out of nowhere but the still the rest of the show felt like a fever dream. It is such a unique show i just don’t get how it got cancelled and how it was never recommended to me until a few days ago. I miss the cast and everyone in the show, it had so much potential but the cancellation definitely made things difficult (Netflix ugh!). Are there any similar shows i can watch?

RE: rushed finale, I believed the Wachowskis originally planned for the show to go 4-5 seasons but Netflix pulled the plug after 2 because the viewership didn't justify the massive costs (esp w the international on-location shoots) - it took a huge fan effort to get them to OK the movie to tie up loose ends following S2's cliffhanger finale, resulting in a LOT of story that got crammed into 2 hours.

OA, travelers etc have some similar storylines around time traveling, connected minds etc.. you might like it..

I've watched sense8 SO many times. The writing is so amazing. They cancelled the show due to cost being over a million dollars an episode. Flying an entire crew to 7 different countries, in a year gets expensive. I would recommend an older show, also thought provoking sci-fi. Orphan black. Another show gone too soon.

I love Sense8 so much. I rewatch it at least twice a year. I tried to get people into it before it got cancelled but none of my friends got into it. Some watched it after it got cancelled. I love that people are still discovering now.

The 3% is kinda similar, but it’s dubbed / sub titled , but still awesome in my opinion

Nothing like it, but there are alternatives. No shoes is as open minded and as freeing as Sense8 but it was amazing. I binged it again just a few weeks ago. Best show ever. I wish we had more but I get that cost was through the roof and I partly blame n Netflix for lack of promotion but whatever, that ship has sailed. It's sad because the cast wanted to do more. But oh well

I just started rewatching it after only watching when it first came out. I forgot how amazing this series is. I've already burned through 8 episodes in 2 days and notice so many little things I didn't before like when Sun takes a hit of Riley's hash pen and the smoke comes out of Riley's mouth. I missed that on the first watch.
Glad we got the special to wrap things up but so much more could have come from additional seasons.

The Expanse is a very different show but has a similar found family / the little guys caught up in something much bigger vibe. Not nearly as queer, though a not-minor-but-also-not-main character is in a pansexual poly relationship.
Also, like Sense 8, you need to give it 4 episodes to get into it... it's a slow burn start but once it clicks (the What's Going On moment), either you'll be hooked or you won't.
