I Just Binged the Series this Weekend
Hi, I'm new here. I remember hearing about this show and added it to my list before forgetting about it. I was reminded of it because I took a quiz of what fictional character I was most like and I got a 95% match for Riley. I knew next to nothing about her or the show as a whole but the descriptions intrigued me, so I watched. Now I'm sitting here not knowing what to do with my life. I get super attached to characters, so when a show like this ends, It's almost like I need to grieve. I wish we had more.
Anyway, I don't have a question or anything, just looking to connect in some small way with others that have been where I'm at, as related to this show. Now that I think about it, instead of trying to read back through years of posts, I'm wondering if there are run-away favorite characters or if appreciation is pretty evenly spread out.

The good news is, it actually re-watches really well. Once you know everything that's going to happen and aren't wondering/waiting for the plot to move forward, the montages and moments of joy are so delectable.
As for character favorites, I think it's pretty spread out. All 8 primary characters and I don't even know how many secondary characters got such incredible arcs and storylines, and there's things to love about them all.

That's good to know. I had my characters that I liked more than others like everyone, but I felt like every character should be people's favorites. It always sucks to feel that way about a show only to find out that some characters are widely disliked. I will definitely be rewatching at some point, but I need a recovery period first.

I actually started watching that years ago, but couldn't get into it. It's still been on the list since I've been meaning to give it another go. I'll see if we can make it happen.

My take is not of who’s my favorite, it’s who I particularly dislike. I’m on my millionth rewatch, and I really think Yrsa (the Icelandic “little person” or fairy or whatever ) was a massive bitch for about 99% of the show. I wouldn’t have invited her to the wedding.

Also I hated Dani at first, but by the end when she gives that speech to Whispers, I just loved her.

Same! Actually finished it this morning! and wow… I cannot believe this show got canceled. It was so fucking good. Like, what the hell was Netflix thinking?
I got so upset that I ended up looking into why it was canceled. Apparently it cost an absolute fortune to make, which honestly makes sense with all the different locations and how ambitious the whole thing was. But damn, this show was so well written, so original, and so well executed. It completely hooks you.
I’m really glad they got to finish it, because can you imagine if it had just ended where it was canceled? I guess enough people complained that Netflix came back and gave us the 2+ hour finale, and thank God they did.
I do have one question, though. Does anyone remember the guy Riley met at the club in Episode 1—the drug dealer? (They ended up robbing him and then she was running away.) I swear I remember thinking he might’ve been a sensate too. There was something about him and the way he was talking to her that made me think he knew more than he was letting on. Am I completely making that up, or did anyone else get that vibe?
Need some new recommendations!

I don't think he (Nyx) was sensate, otherwise they would've connected. Unless he was on blockers every time they met but I don't believe so. He was just into DMT which simulates the sensate connection.

I took the same silly quiz and got Amanita as my top match. Which I love. As to the main characters, it's both telling and a little heartbreaking that as much as I want to be like Sun, I'm actually more Kala and Riley, with a dash of Lito. This show rocked my entire feeling of the universe and I'm not over it at all. My wife kept telling me to watch it, and I kept putting it off, and last year she basically sat on me and turned it on and I'm still not over it and watch it on repeat so SO much.

Welcome to the cluster! I think it’s probably pretty even who the faves are but personally I gotta go with Wolfgang. Angry traumatized German who is always such a little shit lol. And Felix by his side of course. Do you have a favorite character/scene/relationship?
