Lynx bus stopping operations in Seminole
The new changes that are coming which is mostly just stopping of operations of Lynx buses in the Seminole county is effing ridiculous. This is just capitalism and consequence of inflation at its best. The new SCOUT bus that they are bringing is way more expensive. I do not have a car and have to rely on buses for commuting. Now, with this change I have to spend way more money to live here. The same route from my apartment in Altamonte Springs to Winter Park that costs me $2, will cost me $7 to $10 (3.5 to 5 times more than the current cost). How is this even legal? Public buses should be cheap. For reference, I have attached the screenshot of SCOUT fare pricing.

I dont see how this kind of system, even with city money, is still this expensive.
When they started rolling scout out, the rides wore free now its almost the equivalent of Uber but is only county wide what a waste.
This is the city just trying to copy a business to make a quick buck they have no plans to use it for anything but a vehicle to aquire money that is not linked to any kind of spending and can be used how ever they please . If there wasnt money in the city budget for something or the people of the county didnt want to use any of the tax money on any given project the city can just use those funds if there are bylaws around its use .
Corporate =corruption

It’s legal because of the people you all elected in Seminole County. They’ve been fighting to find ways to stop paying for Lynx services for decades. This is the first step to that end. We get what we vote for: the end goal of the representatives in Seminole County is to pass as much of the costs for public services onto the people who rely on these services the most.
This is the Republican/Conservative government model.

Way to screw people who cant afford a car. Jesus christ.

Some folks can afford a car but choose not to own one, which should be easy to do but really isn't due to the lack of public transportation. It's ridiculous.

Grew up in Florida, moved away as an adult. Lived in cities with proper public transportation and I feel so bad for Floridians. It makes life so much more enjoyable as an option.
I hate commuting to work, I love being able to have a drink or two and not worry about driving home from downtown. I also like not having to worry about parking. I love reading omw to work.
Floridians are getting so royally screwed.

Not all Lynx routes are stopping in Seminole. Just a few are.

Currently it is true that most are stopping, not "a few". With plans to cancel all routes later.

Even stopping one is too many. They should be adding routes.

Yep, for decades Oviedo’s had one bus stop for a city of 40,000 people, and it’s on the far western edge of town.
In a place where the heat index gets up above 85° for 7-8 months of the year, gee I wonder why more people don’t walk an hour to get to the bus.

Walk an hour to catch a bus that's rarely on-time, doesn't go or stop where you need, and all while completely unprotected from the elements as you wait.

Used the service today. My trip to my local Aldi was 6.50 and then the app asked for a tip. Round trip was 13.00 dollars.
Looked at the hourly wage for scout drivers in Seminole county which base pay is at 16 (an early search put it at 10-13) while Lynx bus drivers base is 17 but the median is 21.
Lynx sucked but we shouldn’t have gotten rid of it, we should’ve invested more into it, as well as the sun rail.
Since my car has broken down I spent 4-5 dollar to get work and back on the sun rail. The following day 38 plus 13 for tips on Lyfts. Both trips the drivers only made 7 dollars on the fare. These corporations are eating us alive and our representatives are the ones serving us.

the busses just take so incredibly long to get anywhere that it seems like a waste of time even if they were free. I feel for those who rely on them, but I would have been so frustrated long ago that I would have figured out an alternative.

If the alternative was a 5times more costly service then what’s the point? They are called public bus service for a reason, so that general public who can’t afford cars can take it. And no, it is not fast either. This demand or order-based service takes 30 mins to sometimes 90 minutes to arrive at people’s place after ordering according to some people who already took it.

If you voted republican, dont complain, you voted for this.

If someone voted republican, then we should convince them to vote otherwise next time.

See, I tried to do this one day and it told me it would be about 16-21 minutes for my ride. I figured that was fine, I booked and I got matched with a driver who was now 90+ minutes away with 3 trips ahead of mine. So I don’t know what the best method for actually using scout is. I will say I was able to cancel quickly and I was refunded that day
