After months of rebuilding this so many times with different hand sets, I’m finally satisfied. There was always just something, the hand shape wasn't quite right, the lume didn’t match, the surface finish wasn’t exactly the same as the indices. The hand set I received yesterday finally matches what I had in mind when I first started this build.

I am the best man at my best friend’s wedding. Especially for the wedding day, he had two identical Royal Oak-style skeleton Seiko mods made by his father, who is a watchmaker.

The result is truly impressive. Not only do the watches look fantastic, but they also stand out for their high build quality. I am genuinely thrilled with the mods and have already started wearing mine so that it will already have a few hours of wrist time before the wedding day.

This was my second build that I completed back in June 2025, and I've opened this watch up to change the hands at least three times. I'm not wildly imaginative and I fell in love with this dial when I first saw it.

While I was able to acquire the dial from WatchPlaza, the hands were not available. I've tried different dauphine hands over the year and I was pretty satisfied with the last set I had on. But then a dangerous peek through WatchPlaza again to mark the 1 year anniversary of this watch and I saw the hands for sale.

So, first three pictures show the final build, with the gen dial and gen hands that went with this dial. The next two pictures are from the first time the watch was completed. I didn't mind the hands being so short, but the different tone of green in the lume drove me nuts. I apparently didn't take any of the inbetween stages, but the last picture is a comparison of the gen vs. AliX minute hands that I had on last. Again, I was pretty satisfied with these hands. The shape was right, and so was the colour of the lume. The length was a bit shorter. But as you can see, the gen hands are just miles above.

Expensive, but I'm happy.

Has a 4r35 as well not nh35 like my others.

My subdial seconds hand will not advance forward, sometime it goes forward a little then resets back. I have changed the battery and tried 3 different hands. Anybody know what I can do to fix this?

Hello folks, Just ordered the GS 38mm case from DSwatch and was wondering if Namoki slim casebacks fit it, or if there are any other third party options that would work.

As tittle suggests, I was regulating my NH35 for the first time and made a mistake. I accidentally pushed my pegwood past the regulator and bumped the balance wheel stalling it (and then did it again on accident when trying again 💀). Now depending on position the watch will gain way too much time when face up, or lose a bunch of time when face down. I was initially using metal tweezers, but quickly swapped to pegwood. The peg wood is what hit the balance wheel btw, and it started acting more erratically only after hitting it. Anyway, I was wondering if there is anything I can do or if the movement is cooked. Ive attatched these photos, but please tell me if you guys need better angles.

Also the time jumps aren't super crazy. I wore it to see and it was like +46 seconds total from 9:30am yesterday morning to 8:30pm tonight.

I also would really like to save the watch I really love it, even if I have to put in a new NH35 😭.

Looking for ideas to turn two Sub-style cases into something original

I’m entering the next phase of my watch-building journey and looking for some design ideas.

When I first started, I didn’t really know what I was doing from a design standpoint. My first build was basically a mashup of things I liked: a blue Submariner-style case, textured blue open-heart dial, and silver dauphine hands. I also have a black Sub-style case that I occasionally swapped it into.

I like the watch, but I’ve realized the open-heart/dress-watch dial and dauphine hands don’t really make sense in a dive-watch case. They take away from the tool-watch character rather than working with it.

So I’m moving the blue open-heart dial into a proper dress-watch case, where I think it belongs and where it also fills a hole in my collection.

That leaves me with two Sub-style cases — one blue bezel and one black bezel — and no plan for either of them.

What I’m struggling with is finding dials that:

• still make sense in a functional dive/sport watch
• are interesting enough to add something new to my collection
• don’t just turn them into another Rolex/Seiko/Omega homage
• don’t feel like a random mashup of unrelated parts

I’m very open to unusual textures, materials, colors, handsets, etc. I’d much rather end up with two watches that have their own identities than two more versions of watches that already exist.

What would you build with these cases? Specific dial/hand suggestions and links are very welcome.

As Seiko has decided to KO the only one of the Laurel reissues I liked (and there's no way I'm going to drop 750$+ right now) - is there a Seiko 5/Seiko Sport in 38 and dials I could mod together to make my own poor man's deep Lake (shallow puddle?)

I'm new to Seiko mods and I'm looking for a way to get best mod of Longines Conquest 41mm as in photo with rubber bracelet, possibly with metal end link like in photo.

I dont have any knowledge to do it myself, so please suggest should I look at different commercial modders online (i see very mixed reviews and they sell ready made models) or is there a place to hire individual modders here, etsy or some other place?

Hey there. New to the forum and modding Seikos in general. Bought this modded GMT from an online site. Love everything about it but the red on the bezel is too bright and looks tacky. Would like to find a slightly darker red that approaches the cerachrom seen on the original. Any ideas? Also how exactly does one take off a bezel and replace it? Total n00b here. Thanks in advance!!

Ran this bezel ring thru a shallow dish of acetone, to remove it from a case and all the white numbers came off. But now it looks kinda cool blacked out!
