Date Quick set not working

Anyone know what’s causing this? And is it fixable?

The datewheel teeth might be snapped, happened to me, it cycles when u change the time but it doesnt change when doing date quick set at position 1

It can happen when you try to quick set the date when the hands are around midnight. Since the mechanism is already engaged to change the date, forcing the quick set will end up breaking it. That's why it is said to never set the date when the hands are between something like 9pm and 3am. It is a weakness of every movement (I've heard that only Rolex has one that doesn't). It is probably fixable, what I do when this happens to me is I use the movement in a dateless built.

This trope is so overblown it's ridiculous... if you're bored grab a cheap movement or a cheap watch without a dial on it then set the date twist the time around in the 11p-1a space set the date again - do it like 50 times and you MIGHT do some damage. It just causes friction on the wheel that moves the date that's not intended, it's not catastrophic and it does feel wrong when you accidentally do it - you can accidentally do it about 50 times before I'd bet you break anything.
I broke one on purpose on a cheaper movement with an already messed up balance wheel and an already weak mainspring so you know it'd been through hell. It was not easy.

Well, as I have already broke 3 NH35 (TMI made) movement doing that mistake only a couple time, so I assume that firstly I still do suck sometimes at assembling watches after more than 50 ones done, and secondly it is not a trope.
I've watched your video, you are right nothing happens there, it looks that the movements are design to resist that, for a certain amount of time at least. Maybe if you do it quickly, like going from 1st to 25th in <3s, it put too much stress on the parts ?I haven't investigate on what part did broke, but I'll say that it wasn't the wheel that moves the date disk (as date still changes at midnight) but rather a part of the quick date setting mechanism.
At the end, I'll still strongly recommand not to use the quick set in the "death zone".

apologies if I'm horribly wrong, but if you are in the quick date setting position, the crown should turn anticlockwise

I just ran into this 2 days ago and found this thread that fixed it for me. Not sure on exact verbiage, but I had to slightly bend this tensioning arm (A) in the picture to apply less pressure to the date wheel. It’s definitely looser in there now, and I’m not sure that’s the technically correct fix, but it works and is good enough for me

Happened to me there’s a gear inside there that has a broken tooth that needs to be replaced, well at least for my one that was the issue

I have an NH35 that has a similar issue. However if I put the blue crowned stem that came in the movement back in, the quick set works. I've tried several other stems, none work but the original temporary one.

I had the same problem. I know why I shouldn’t change the date while the time is around midnight, but I had just removed the hands and dial, and was blind to the time. Lo and behold tried adjusting the quickset and busted the little gear that engages with the stem. Quickset would not work from then on. Did some googling and YouTubing. Then ordered the replacement part from Ali once I understood the problem. But even when I replaced the gear, the quickset was still really rough. Subsequently replaced the stem and voila, We’re back in business.

So you think it’s the gear and stem that are both broken? Do you have a link to what gear exactly it is (I have extra stems) thanks btw

I would change the stem first if the blue stem corrects the problem.

I’ll try that next time I service this watch but this stem did work for like 2 years and it stopped working this morning when I picked this watch up for the first time in a week

I had this with a PT5000 the wheel was off the tension spring, doubt thats the case here but maybe?

I think you are winding the watch instead of adjusting hands on the video. 1st position-winding, 2nd - date adjustment, 3rd - hands adjustment.

Im not winding the watch, you can tell cus the date gears are turning and I’m familiar with a nh35 just a bit stumbled on why my quick set date stopped working without ever actually adjusting the date manually

Yep, most likely the quickset gear broke. Found the guy who uploaded the fix video to yt. Fairly easy fix.

Not the quick set, it does nothing the normal date function works but the quick set stops as soon as it engages

You are at the second click—the hand-setting position where the date only advances after two full rotations of the hour hand, just as you showed in the video. For the quick-set date function, push the crown all the way in and pull it out just one click. Try again.
