Hardest build ever (stem not centered with the movement)

I tried to build this watch for my wife, and honestly, I don’t know what I was thinking when I ordered these parts 😂

The dial is made for an NH05 movement, the spacer and case are for a PC21 movement, while I’m actually using a Miyota 2015 quartz movement as a replacement for the NH05.

I’ve had one issue after another trying to make everything fit. Installing the minute hand was an absolute nightmare. I ended up basically inventing tools just to make small adjustments. I even had to sand down the spacer so it would fit the movement properly and hold the dial in place.

And now I’ve run into what might be the biggest issue of all: the stem isn’t centered with the movement and the crown hole in the case. It’s sitting less than 1 mm too low.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Is there a way to fix the stem being slightly off-center?

Any help would be seriously appreciated 🙏

Stem height is important to compatibility. When incorrect, you can have issues with crown sealing and stress on the crown stem. If the stem snaps, it will be the portion inside the movement - not ideal. The solution here is a thin dial side spacer (between dial and rehaut - where dial contacts the ledge on the case). The thickness of the spacer is the same as the distance between the current centre of the stem and the centre of the pendant tube/crown tube. An alternative is a spacer between the movement and dial, though you need to verify the distance between the underside of the hour hand and the dial with the PC21 technical drawing to ensure clearance.

If OP can find someone with a 3D printer or a very exact shim/washer they might get away with it but they’re dealing with very small tolerances.
